Abstract: An oral appliance (OA) made as add-on optional feature in a denture of a user with or without implants to facilitate adjustable mandibular advancement assisting in partially or fully reducing snoring and thus ameliorating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The mandibular advancement is realized by deployment of pins in the denture set, and a set of straps that may have optional features such as recess, reinforcement, and the OA may be made of bio-compatible materials using several manufacturing approaches including 3D printing, molding, or milling. An optional additional process comprises of economical production of a similar or alternatively simpler, lighter secondary unit that may be offered to a patient ordering a primary denture, at a discounted price that may serve the purpose of cosmetic function as well as anti-snoring function.

  • Patent number: 11315257
Abstract: Although object surface or human face recognition systems have already achieved an impressive efficiency in recent years, the object surface or human face as well as object to object or person to person tracking task still remains challenging, especially under non-ideal conditions, as is common in driverless vehicles, surveillance or security based applications, particularly in unstructured environments. In this disclosure, data captured through artificial vision system, e.g. CCTV surveillance is analyzed identifying the object or person and object's or person's movements across the respective platform. Image regions are categorized based on the population density. The regions are subsequently decomposed adaptively into tree of image patches. Furthermore, the surfaces are later stored efficiently and retrieved as patches.

  • Patent number: 11235934
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring tension and detecting slip of industrial belts while in running condition on belt drive system by using ultrasonic transducers. The sensing part involves two ultrasonic transducers which are installed on an assembly which is placed within a constrained space between the tension side and slack side of belt. Sinusoidal waves having predefined amplitude are sent from transmitting transducer on the belt and amplitude of the signal reflected from the belt is measured and compared with a threshold value to detect reduced tension. An acoustic sleeve is mounted on driving and driven pulley locknuts to blank the reflected signal periodically to measure the speeds of the pulleys compared to detect the slip of the belt. The apparatus generates an alert to user when the belt tension is reduced and/or when slip is detected. The processing circuit involves microcontroller with Wi-Fi module to send alert messages.

  • Publication number: 20210101753
Abstract: A system and a method is disclosed for monitoring tension and detecting slip of industrial belts (e.g. V, flat, and Timing belts) while in running condition on belt drives by using ultrasonic transducers. The sensing part involves two ultrasonic transducers which are installed on an assembly which is placed within a constrained space between the tension side and slack side of belt. Acoustic waves having predefined amplitude are sent from transmitting transducer on the belt and amplitude of the signal reflected from the belt is measured and compared with a threshold value to detect reduced tension. Additionally, acoustic plugs are mounted on driver and driven pulley locknuts to blank the reflected signal periodically. The time period of the blanking of signals from the pulleys is computed and it measures the rotational speed (revolutions per minute: rpm) of the pulleys. This rpm is used to calculate the rotational speeds of the pulleys.

  • Publication number: 20200264935
Abstract: An accelerator with a modified kernel design for convolution processing in a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model is disclosed wherein the convolution execution time is reduced. A kernel structure is disclosed in the embodiment for the convolution operations that improves the overall performance of a CNN. Further, two loading units for weight and pixel loading reduce the latency involved in loading the network parameters into the processing elements. Moreover, a controller has been designed and included in the system architecture to aid the functioning of loading units efficiently.

  • Publication number: 20140088764
Abstract: A capacitance based tactile array sensor is disclosed that provides for close resolution of sensing pixels by using insulated conductors as electrodes, and allows for eliminating the need for a joint or connection interface near periphery of the sensor array. Optional aspects of the invention include provision for allowing use of stretchable conductors, reduction of the burden of number of connections at one layer of conductors in the sensor, providing for differential sensing resolutions at different areas of sensing, and modularity in configuration allowing replacement of a defective sensor pixel in the array. The tactile array sensor may be integrated with surface of a robotic hand's finger, palm, or any other surface of a device that requires multi-point sensing of external contacts. The capacitance information is processed for useful display or control of systems based on the contact feedback.

  • Publication number: 20110168685
Abstract: A thermal pixel array stimulating device is disclosed providing flexibility between the different pixels of the array to enable wrapping of the device over a curved surface of the human body by connecting the pixel substrates by flexible material or linkages. The distance between the pixels may further optionally be adjustable. A controller may control the temperature pattern generated by the array. The controller may be programmable to provide a temperature pattern. Individual pixels may be provided with sensors to measure stimulus, with the outputs from such sensors being directed to data recordal and display devices. Stimulation modes provided may include at least one of vibratory stimulation, actuation stimulation, thermal stimulation or a combination of two or more of them.
