The method includes receiving, by a processor, a Fast Identity Online-based (FIDO-based) authentication from a client device via a wireless communication, the FIDO-based authentication configured to provide a user of the client device access to the multifunction peripheral; determining, by the processor, a validity of the FIDO-based authentication from the client device of the user; and granting, by the processor, the user access to the multifunction peripheral when the validity of the FIDO-based authentication from the client device of the user has been validated.
