  • Patent number: 10699375
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program products are provided for reducing artifacts in a seam region when stitching overlapping images. One example method includes extracting the seam region from the overlapping images, wherein the overlapping images comprise a first image captured by a first image capturing device and a second image captured by a second image capturing device, the overlapping images sharing the seam region, the seam region being a region of each of the first image and the second images depicting a common captured area, applying a set of convergence values to the seam region generating a plurality of strips corresponding to the seam region, dividing the plurality of strips into multiple vertical segments, and computing an optimal convergence for each of the multiple vertical segments.

  • Publication number: 20190335166
Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for identifying and using 3D volumetric level of interest data associated with a 3D scene being viewed by multiple viewers. The method can include obtaining, for a time slice, respective consumption data associated with each viewer, of a plurality of viewers that are viewing the 3D scene. The method can also include identifying, based on the consumption data, 3D volumetric level of interest data associated with each of the viewers that are viewing the 3D scene, and thereby, identifying a plurality of separate instances of 3D volumetric level of interest data for the time slice. The method can additionally include aggregating the 3D volumetric level of interest data associated with two or more of the viewers and using the aggregated volumetric level of interest data to autonomously control an aspect associated with the 3D scene for the time slice and/or a later time slice.

  • Publication number: 20190068876
Abstract: The present invention may be summarized as a hybrid approach for computing the convergence of a seam region of two overlapping images, in particular, segment regions of a seam region, by using (a) convergence estimates from an SSD-based search and (b) convergence estimates from optical flow, to arrive at a final convergence value towards image alignment for stitching.

  • Publication number: 20180343431
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to combine images captured by multiple cameras into a composite panoramic image, such as a 360° panorama, in a manner that reduces image defects and other artifacts at or near a seam between images. In some implementations of example embodiments, the overlapping portions of two images are divided into a plurality of seam regions. Upon selection of a seam region, the seam region is further divided into seam segments. In each seam segment, a depth level associated with the segment is used to calculate convergence value that is applied such that different scaling factors may be applied to image elements at different depths within a given image. Based on the applied convergence values and the resulting stitching at the seam region the image quality at the seam area can be efficiently improved.

  • Publication number: 20180310040
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product provide for view dependent delivery of tile-based video content. In the context of a method, coordinates and span of each of a plurality of tiles of video content generated by an encoder are determined. The method also includes creating a media presentation description including segment information and supplemental fields including information regarding the coordinates and span of each of a plurality of tiles of video content. The method further includes providing for view dependent delivery by associating the media presentation description with file segments to be delivered to a player. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180241982
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for improved generation of composite images for display in three-dimensional environments. Images may be adjoined to form three-dimensional composite images, but the composite images may be subject to contraction lines. The adjoining images or composite image may be processed with circular matching and mixed blending to reduce the contraction lines near the seams of the images and to improve image quality. The circular matching includes adjusting pixel colors and/or intensity values so that pixels corresponding by circular symmetry match in color and/or intensity. The composite image may be smoothed by mixed blending to eliminate or reduce abrupt edges in the area of the circular matching. The resulting composite image provides improved image quality and realistic three-dimensional effects.

Abstract: Various methods are provided for facilitating live virtual reality streaming, and more specifically, for facilitating dynamic metadata transmission, stream tiling, and attention based active view processing, encoding, and rendering. One example method may receiving an indication of a position of a display unit, determining, based on the indication of the position of the display unit, at least one active view associated with the position of the display, the at least one active view being a first view of a plurality of views, and causing transmission of first video content corresponding to the at least one active view, the first video content configured for display on the display unit.

  • Publication number: 20130041704
Abstract: Methods, computer readable media, and apparatuses for managing initiative consolidation are presented. According to one or more aspects, information about at least two new projects may be received. Subsequently, the information may be analyzed to identify one or more commonalities between the at least two new projects. Thereafter, it may be determined, based on the identified commonalities, to bundle the at least two new projects for one or more testing phases. In one or more arrangements, receiving information about the at least two new projects may include extracting, from one or more project design documents, a job listing for each project, where each job listing identifies one or more jobs included in each project. In some arrangements, a cost-benefit analysis may be generated to calculate potential savings associated with bundling the at least two new projects for the one or more testing phases.
