  • Patent number: 7327708
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing a multimedia transmission from a content source to an end user over a link. The wireless content switch comprising an upstream port for receiving one or more data packets and for transmitting one or more status to a content source, a downstream port for transmitting the one or more data packets and for receiving one or more status from an end user, at least one processing unit coupled to the upstream and down stream ports, and memory for storing the one or more data packets responsive to receiving the data packets. Optimization code is stored in the memory, the optimization code, when executed, receiving at least one data packet, transmitting the data packet, receiving status information, transmitting status information, determining quality of service assigned to the end user, determining session specific status for the end user, and transmitting the quality of service and session specific status.
