Abstract: Apparatus and methods for communication system state information change to wireless devices in a content server network in a resource and power efficient manner are disclosed. In particular, a disclosed method for conveying system state information to a wireless device includes sending a primary message including first information configured to communicate a current system state to the wireless device, and then sending second information set usable by the wireless device to update system state information. By summarizing or abbreviating the first information, a receiving device can easily compare to past system states to determine whether further processing, such as processing of the second information, is needed, thereby affording the conservation of processing and power resources of a receiving device. Corresponding apparatus are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for communication of notifications are disclosed. A disclosed method for communicating notifications from a server to a device includes sending a primary message including data indicating notification status information; and sending notification messages apart from the primary message addressed to specific groups of devices. Similarly, another disclosed method for obtaining notifications in a device from a server includes monitoring the primary message including current notification status information, comparing the current notification information status information with a previous notification status information to determine if a change in notification status information has occurred, and obtaining addressed notification information when a change in the notification status information has been determined.

Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for exchanging information between a plurality of encoder modules and a multiplex module to combine segments of data from the encoder modules with an improved overall quality. In particular, the encoder modules associate their respective segments of data with quality and rate information and send at least the quality and rate information associated with the segments of data to the multiplex module. The multiplex module analyzes the quality and rate information to determine whether the segments of data that encoder modules desire to include in the current superframe fit within the available bandwidth of a transmission channel. If the multiplex module determines the plurality of segments of data do not fit within the available bandwidth, the multiplex module selects one or more of the segments to be resized based on the quality and rate information received from the encoder modules.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enhanced delivery of content over a data network. In an aspect, a method is provided for transmitting services over a network. The method includes receiving one or more services having associated delivery requirements, determining that network bandwidth is available to meet the delivery requirements, and allocating the network bandwidth to the one or more services based on the delivery requirements to produce network bandwidth allocations. In an aspect, an apparatus is provided that includes receiving logic configured to receive one or more services having associated delivery requirements, and multiplexer logic configured to determine that network bandwidth is available to meet the delivery requirements, and to allocate the network bandwidth to the one or more services based on the delivery requirements to produce network bandwidth allocations.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses associated with multi-phase wireless handshaking. A user terminal enters handshaking with an access point. The access point may respond to an access request of the user terminal with an access assignment, and alternatively, with a message indicating an assignment will not be presently given. The handshaking process could then be completed at a later time.
