Abstract: Described herein are techniques for improving performance of a data system by profiling and executing background services based on task type profiles. Techniques described herein can break down background services into tasks and provide the ability to accurately size the tasks based on task types and provide recommendations for gateways for autoscaling and throttling computing resources accordingly.

One or more resource controllers, each designated to manage a custom resource, communicate with a master controller of the node to manage operational and configuration states of the node and any microservices containerized within the node. The master enables a user to monitor and automate the management of microservices and the cloud based network as a whole. The containerized microservice architecture allows user customizable rendering of microservices, reconciliation of old and new versions of microservices, and facilitated management of a plurality of nodes.

A system includes at least one hardware processor coupled to a memory and configured to decode a workflow to obtain a workload specification and a failure experiment specification. A first set of containers is configured to execute one or more workloads on a testing node. The one or more workloads are defined by the workload specification. A second set of containers is configured to execute one or more failure experiments on the testing node. The one or more failure experiments are based on the failure experiment specification. Execution of the one or more failure experiments triggers an error condition on the testing node. A notification is generated based on at least one metric associated with execution of the one or more workloads and the one or more failure experiments.
