  • Patent number: 6801908
Abstract: A data navigation system and a method that enable a user to selectively view multi-dimensional forecast data in a two-dimensional form. The data navigation system includes a representation means for representing the multi-dimensional data. The system also has a Graphical User Interface that displays the data in two-dimensional form and also enables the user to navigate through the multi-dimensional data through the Interface using an interaction means such as a keyboard, a mouse a voice-command, a touch screen and other such means. The system also has an identification means and an extraction means that identify and obtain the data to be displayed in the Interface from the representation means. The data navigation system can also be used to view any multi-dimensional data in two-dimensional form.

  • Publication number: 20040076667
Abstract: A monolithic sustained-release pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective dose of metformin hydrochloride as an active substance and a hydrophobic polymer and/or other hydrophobic material, wherein the metformin hydrochloride is released no more than forty percent in gastric fluid having pH 1.2 and is released no less than ninety percent eight to ten hours after administration in simulated intestinal fluid (phosphate buffer) having pH 6.8, and wherein the metformin hydrochloride displays a peak plasma concentration, a systemic bioavailability over time, and a residual plasma concentration twenty-four hours after administration of an oral dosage form of the pharmaceutical composition, so that the metformin hydrochloride concentration remains therapeutically effective and once daily administration of the pharmaceutical composition is sufficient to be therapeutically effective throughout a day.

  • Patent number: 6677830
Abstract: A broadband impedance matching circuit for use with an optical device such as an electroabsorption optical modulator comprises a microstrip transmission line, including pairs of like-sized open stubs disposed on opposite sides of the transmission line along its length. The number of open stubs, as well as their dimensions and location are chosen to provide for broadband impedance matching (from dc to several GHz) between an external electrical signal source and the optical device.

  • Patent number: 6464988
Abstract: Inclusion complexes of glipizide and a nonionic surfactant with cyclodextrin and cyclodextrin derivatives. A method of preparing the inclusion complexes of glipizide and a nonionic surfactant with cyclodextrin and cyclodextrin derivatives, by wetting cyclodextrin or a derivative thereof with a nonionic surfactant, and mixing the resulting mixture with glipizide. A pharmaceutical composition containing an inclusion complex of glipizide and a nonionic surfactant with cyclodextrin and cyclodextrin derivatives, in combination with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.

  • Patent number: 6270797
Abstract: One aspect of the invention resides in a monolithic sustained release composition of glipizide for patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus that exhibits a breakdown after ingestion by a patient in conformity with a zero-order kinetic. The present invention provides a composition of a glipizide and a hydrocolloid forming agent and optimally other auxiliary excipients for the sustained release of glipizide. It is preferable that the hydrophilic material comprises at least 50% by weight of the composition. The present invention is also directed to the process for producing the composition. One aspect of this process includes the steps of granulating glipizide, a hydrophilic material and a diluent, drying the granulated product and lubricating the product with a flow regulating agent and lubricant.

  • Patent number: 5874111
Abstract: Preparation of highly monodispersed polymeric hydrophilic nanoparticles having a size of up to 100 nm (in which may have drug substances encapsulated therein. The process comprises subjecting a mixture of an aqueous solution of a monomer or preformed polymer reverse micelles, a cross linking agent, initiator, and optionally, a drug or target substance to polymerization. The polymerized reaction product is dried for removal of solvent to obtain dried nanoparticles and surfactant employed in the process of preparing reverse micelles. The dry mass is dispersed in aqueous buffer and the surfactant and other toxic material are removed therefrom.
