Patent number: 11941969Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling a system to rapidly respond to wireless instructions being transmitted by a personal device over one of several communications networks that share a common RF medium are provided. During operation of the system, certain network communications may take priority over other network communications. Rapid response communications enable a user to communicate with the system, using the personal device, in a manner that does not collide or interfere with higher priority network communications.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2019Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Hirofumi Honjo, Prashanth Ramachandran, Mikko Sannala, Naveen Singh, Wes Calidonna, Arjuna Sivasithambaresan, Harry Tannenbaum, Scott Hong

Patent number: 10595273Abstract: Systems and methods for activating select devices are described herein. More particularly, this specification relates to using structure specific service IDs (SSSIDs) when two devices that are part of a common ecosystem are deciding whether to establish a connection according to a Bluetooth protocol. The SSSID can be a unique identifier that can be included in packets that are transmitted in accordance with the standards defining the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol. The SSSIDs can be generated and provided to select devices such that only the select devices that are in possession of the SSSID are able to communicate with each other. This advantageously eliminates spurious activation of unintended recipient devices by enabling them to ignore the packet if the SSSID is not recognized, thereby enabling the unintended recipient device to remain in a low power sleepy state.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2018Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Liang-Yun Wang, Prashanth Ramachandran

Patent number: 10499238Abstract: Methods and devices may be used to remotely hushing alarms by receiving an indication of an alarm event occurring at a remote device and presenting a visual indicator of the alarm event including a hush option to alter an audible and/or visual alarm notification of the remote device. A user selection of the hush option is received. In response to receiving the user selection of the hush option, communicating, from the electronic device to the remote device via a point-to-point low power wireless connection between the electronic device and the remote device, a hush request requests that the remote device alter its audible and/or visual alarm notification and causes an adjustment of the visual indicator to reflect a status of the hush request.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2018Date of Patent: December 3, 2019Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Smriti Narang, Prashanth Ramachandran, Liang-Yun Wang, Andrew William Stebbins, Jay D. Logue

Patent number: 10413824Abstract: Electronic devices can facilitate collective and accurate scorekeeping. A first electronic mobile device can communicate (directly or indirectly) with a second electronic mobile device. Respective users can use the devices to identify when and/or how a score is to be adjusted. The input can be processed at a mobile device or central server to determine whether and/or how to adjust a score. Score adjustment can depend on whether any other input includes inconsistent information. The score adjustments can be pushed to one or more mobile devices. In this manner, all mobile devices can display a consistent and current score.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2014Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Prashanth Ramachandran

Patent number: 10146319Abstract: Systems and methods systems and methods for altering a state of system using a remote device that processes gestures are described herein. The electronic device can communicate with the system in response to monitoring a user generated gesture or other interaction. For example, a user can wave the personal device or wave to the personal device, and in response thereto, the personal device can transmit an instruction to the system that causes it to change its operational state. Thus, embodiments discussed herein enable a user to perform remote gestures with a first device to affect the operation of a second device.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2016Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: GOOGLE LLCInventors: Harry Tannenbaum, Scott Hong, Hirofumi Honjo, Prashanth Ramachandran, Mikko Sannala, Naveen Singh, Wes Calidonna, Arjuna Sivasithambaresan
