  • Patent number: 11925447
Abstract: A method and system including a monitoring device to detect, during a session, a set of radar signals associated with first respiratory-related movements of a first person and second respiratory-related movements of a second person located within a detection zone comprising at least a portion of a bed. The method and system dynamically generate an out-of-bed zone adjacent to a side of the bed. The out-of-bed zone is monitored to detect motion within the zone to determine when the first person exits and enters the bed. The method and system identify a portion of the set of radar signals collected during a time period when the first person is determined to be out of the bed. The identified portion of the set of radar signals is removed from the set of radar signals collected during the sleep session.

  • Patent number: 11818742
Abstract: A system and method for network channel selection is provided. A device includes WIFI, ZIGBEE, and BLUETOOTH communication controllers. The device's processor is configured to determine, using the communication controllers, a WIFI channel designated for communications and a first set of ZIGBEE channels designated for communications. The processor is configured to determine that a number of available BLUETOOTH channels that do not overlap the WIFI channel or any in-use ZIGBEE channels is less than a threshold number of BLUETOOTH channels required for communication using a BLUETOOTH protocol. The processor then determines the WIFI channel has a minimum duty cycle from among duty cycles of the WIFI channel and each ZIGBEE channel, determines a first BLUETOOTH channel that at least partially overlaps the WIFI channel, and causes the BLUETOOTH communication controller to transmit data using the first BLUETOOTH channel.

  • Patent number: 11796637
Abstract: Systems and methods for fall detection on uneven surfaces utilizing radar are disclosed. For example, an electronic device may receive reflected energy from surfaces in an environment. Corresponding sensor data associated with an object moving on an uneven surface may be utilized to determine a velocity of the object and a height change of the object. When the velocity indicates that the object has stopped moving toward or away from the sensing device, and the height values indicate a sudden decrease in height, a fall event may be detected.

  • Patent number: 11570632
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving, from an application framework, a set of tasks, a throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and a set of active connections for a radio network comprising a Wi-Fi radio and a Zigbee radio. The computer-implemented method also includes determining, using the set of tasks, the throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and the set of active connections, a target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle and setting the Wi-Fi radio to operate at the target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle. The computer-implemented method further includes monitoring, using a monitoring unit, air time statistics associated with the Wi-Fi radio, determining, using the air time statistics, a measured Wi-Fi duty cycle, and adjusting Wi-Fi radio settings to decrease a difference between the target Wi-Fi duty cycle and the measured Wi-Fi duty cycle.

  • Patent number: 11398070
Abstract: Systems and methods for boundary approximation utilizing radar are disclosed. For example, a heatmap of an environment may be generated utilizing data from reflected energy received at a device. The heatmap may be utilized to generate a point cloud representing the environment, where points of the point cloud indicate rates of change of energy intensity associated with surfaces in the environment. The points may be utilized to determine a mean line indicating an approximated distance between a portion of the environment, such as a wall, and the device.

  • Patent number: 10425508
Abstract: Described are techniques for enabling a computing device, such as a slave device using a Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Protocol (A2DP), to determine times when a master device is likely to be idle, during which communications using an alternate protocol, such as Wi-Fi may be exchanged. The length of a delay period may be determined based in part on counts of successive communications received from a master device. The length of a transmission period for use of the alternate protocol may be determined based in part on lengths of time between sets of communications received from a master device. If no communication is received from the master device for a length of time greater than or equal to the delay period, data may be communicated using the alternate protocol for a length of time less than or equal to the transmission period.

  • Patent number: 10270481
Abstract: A first device may establish wireless connections with multiple devices using a single channel. The first device acquires reception data about these multiple devices that is indicative of a device identifier and received signal strength at the first device. Based on the reception data, a receiver gain is determined. A wireless network interface is configured to use the receiver gain. As a result, communication between the first device and the multiple devices is improved.

  • Patent number: 10243871
Abstract: Described are techniques for improving the performance of a first device that uses a first communication protocol by modifying the audio data rate associated with a second device that uses a second communication protocol. Data indicative of access and use of a communication channel by the first device may indicate a level of use associated with a communication channel or a level of channel resources used by the first device. If the parameters determined from the access data deviate from one or more threshold values, the audio data rate of the second device may be modified to change the quantity of resources used by the second device.

  • Patent number: 10117288
Abstract: Techniques for harmonizing wireless communications performed by a computing device which communicates using varying wireless communication standards are described herein. For instance, a computing device may include multiple chipsets with associated antennas that are configured to perform wireless communications using separate wireless standards which operate at overlapping frequencies. To avoid performance degradation experienced in simultaneous use cases with communications operating at overlapping frequencies, the multiple chipsets may be configured with logic to determine which communications are prioritized when multiple chipsets attempt to communicate simultaneously. The multiple chipsets may be communicatively coupled to coordinate their communications by prioritizing certain types of communications over other types of communications to avoid simultaneous communications in overlapping frequencies.

  • Patent number: 10098136
Abstract: A multi-radio wireless device capable of communicating on several wireless communication protocols (WCP) such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. while avoiding on-device interference between radios operating using different WCPs. The device may measure an isolation value between radios during a calibration phase. During runtime operations, if a transmit activity is detected, the device may set a maximum receive gain using the expected transmit power and the isolation value. If a receive activity is detected, the device may set a maximum transmit power using an expected receive gain and the isolation value. The maximum receive gain and/or transmit powers may be obtained from a lookup table matching receive gain values to reference values where the reference values are a combination of transmit powers and isolation values.

  • Patent number: 9917604
Abstract: A wireless communication device may reduce a receive sensitivity in the face of a high number of interfering communications to improve uplink throughput. In a listen-before-talk scenario, a device detecting a large number of undesired received communications may not transmit uplink data in the face of crowded traffic conditions. To avoid this scenario, if a desired communication link has a sufficiently high RSSI, a device may reduce its receive sensitivity to reduce the number of detected undesired communications while maintaining sufficient quality of the desired communication link. This approach will increase uplink throughput and improve communication performance.

  • Patent number: 9831961
Abstract: An adaptive envelope tracking calibration module executes a routine to calibrate a radio frequency (RF) transmitter in a communication device comprising an envelope tracking system. The routine includes receiving a selection of a calibration target power that is greater than a desired output power of the RF transmitter and determining an output power estimate for the power amplifier as a supply voltage for the power amplifier varies according to an output of the envelope tracking system. The routine further includes adaptively adjusting the calibration target power when the output power estimate is not greater than the calibration target power.

  • Patent number: 9742481
Abstract: A device that dynamically selects between multiple antennas to provide a best antenna selection for a wireless link between the device and an access point. The device may have a switch connected to multiple antennas and may instruct the switch to select from the antennas in order to improve a signal quality of the wireless link regardless of orientation of the device or obstructions in proximity to the device. For example, the device may determine a first signal strength associated with the wireless link using a first antenna and a second signal strength associated with the wireless link using a second antenna and may select the first antenna or the second antenna based on the first signal strength and the second signal strength.
