  • Publication number: 20160192251
Abstract: An apparatus and method for scanning Radio Access Technology (RAT) of a User Equipment (UE) registered in a first cell in a cellular communication network is provided. The method includes performing a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) procedure for establishing a call, disabling, if the NAS procedure fails, capability of the UE to connect to the first cell, checking information relating to neighboring cells in the network, and selecting at least one RAT included in the information relating to the neighboring cells, and scanning a second cell operating in the at least one RAT based on the information relating to the neighboring cells.

  • Publication number: 20160183123
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses (including, but not limited to, User Equipment (UE) and Base Stations) for a UE to control a packet header compression function in a communication system are described. In one method, if a predetermined condition is satisfied while the packet header compression function is enabled, the UE transmits a request for disabling the packet header compression function to a Base Station (BS), and, if a response is received from the BS, the UE disables the packet header compression function.

  • Patent number: 9357435
Abstract: A method and a system for handling audio packets in a Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) call by a User Equipment (UE) when Robust Header Compression (ROHC) is enabled are provided. The Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) layer provides the VoLTE call properties to the ROHC compressor. The TCP/IP layer receives the audio packets from audio engine and sends the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) packets to a ROHC compressor. Further, the ROHC compressor compresses the Internet Protocol/User Datagram Protocol (IP/UDP) headers and a RTP header. The ROHC compressor sends the compressed RTP data along with a payload to the network in the UpLink (UL) data path. During DownLink (DL) data path, ROHC decompressor receives compressed ROHC packet from network. The ROHC decompressor ignores the construction of IP/UDP headers for the compressed data.

  • Publication number: 20150257037
Abstract: A method for retaining a Robust Header Compression (ROHC) state in a User Equipment (UE) during switching from a Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) call to a video call or vice versa is provided. When the VoLTE call is in progress and if a user switches the VoLTE call to the video call, then the RTP header information is sent to an Application Processor (AP) from a Communication Processor (CP). The ROHC compressor continues the compression of the RTP packets using the existing built context for the video call. Further, when the video call is in progress and if the user switches the video call to the VoLTE call, then the RTP header information is sent to the CP from the AP. The ROHC context is reused by exchanging the RTP header information between the AP and the CP.

  • Publication number: 20150230129
Abstract: A method and system is provided for optimizing Radio resources during a VoLTE call when ROHC is enabled by indicating an IP-ID value using an identifier in an Initial and Refresh (IR) packet. During the VoLTE call, when value of a static IP-ID is zero, the ROHC compressor appends an identifier in the IR packet and enables the identifier for indicating the static IP-ID value to the ROHC decompressor. Further, the ROHC compressor sends the IR packet to the ROHC decompressor by enabling the identifier for indicating the static IP-ID value during the ROHC context. The ROHC decompressor receives the IR packet and determines the identifier in the IR packet. If the identifier is enabled in the IR packet then the ROHC decompressor sets the IP-ID value as zero during generation of decompressed IP header.
