  • Publication number: 20230231681
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may switch the set of antennas that the UE uses to transmit sounding reference signal (SRS) transmissions. For example, the UE may switch from transmitting first SRSs that conflict with a scheduled communication from a first set of antennas to a second set of antennas (e.g., that is, the conflict may be at the first set of antennas). The UE may be transmitting second SRSs using the second set of antennas, and the switching may cause the UE to transmit the second SRSs using the first set of antennas instead. The second SRSs may not conflict with the scheduled communication (e.g., due to using different resources than the first SRSs), which may enable the UE to transmit the second SRSs and the scheduled communication using the same first set of antennas.

  • Patent number: 11595866
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a beam measurement report associated with a serving beam of the UE. The UE may determine that a timer, relative to transmission of the beam measurement report, has expired. The UE may perform a measurement of one or more neighbor beams based at least in part on determining that the timer has expired. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 10278232
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus and methods for operating the same that can improve out-of-sync and radio link failure handling in a W-CDMA network. A user equipment (UE) establishes a packet switched (PS) connection between the UE and a base station, wherein the PS connection includes a Fractional Dedicated Physical Channel (F-DPCH). The UE configures an in-sync threshold (Qin) and an out-of-sync threshold (Qout) for the F-DPCH, wherein values of the Qin and Qout are set higher than those of corresponding Qin and Qout of a Dedicated Physical Channel (DPCH). The UE further estimates a downlink (DL) Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) based on one or more transmit power control (TPC) commands of the F-DPCH, and determines whether to release the PS connection based on a comparison of the estimated SIR and Qout of the F-DPCH.

  • Publication number: 20190082446
Abstract: Various embodiments for managing uplink transmissions in a mobile communication device may include receiving, on a first subscription of the mobile communication device, an uplink grant from a first network and determining whether a tune-away from the first subscription to a second subscription of the mobile communication device is scheduled to occur during reception of a response message sent from the first network following an initial transmission of a data packet according to the uplink grant. The mobile communication device may use a block error rate and a buffer status report index of a connection between the first subscription and the first network to determine how to manage uplink transmissions following the tune-away.

  • Patent number: 10057880
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for providing notifications in a communication network of a plurality of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In an aspect, a supervisor device in the communication network detects a notification directed to a wireless mobile device in the communication network and sends at least one instruction to at least a first IoT device of the plurality of IoT devices to reduce an operating volume or suspend operation of the first IoT device. The first IoT device receives the at least one instruction from the supervisor device and reduces the operating volume of the IoT device or suspends the operation of the IoT device in response to the at least one instruction.

  • Patent number: 10004087
Abstract: An apparatus may communicate with at least two networks. The apparatus may be configured to opportunistically decode a channel from a first network and a channel from a second network in order to receive data from both networks. The apparatus may determine whether first data carried on a paging channel (PCH) is decodable from a subset of slots that carry the PCH. The subset of slots may be included in a set of slots that carry the PCH. When the PCH collides with a physical multicast channel (PMCH), the apparatus may decode second data carried on the PMCH instead of the first data when the first data is determined to be decodable from the subset of slots that carry the PCH, and decode the first data instead of the second data when the first data is not determined to be decodable from the subset of slots that carry the PCH.

  • Patent number: 9706421
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to estimating a signal to interference ratio. A signal energy estimate corresponding to a received data transmission is generated. A noise to interference ratio estimate corresponding to the received data transmission is generated. A bias, corresponding to the noise to interference ratio estimate, is subtracted from the signal energy estimate. A signal to interference ratio estimate is determined corresponding to the signal energy estimate less the bias, and the noise to interference ratio estimate.

  • Patent number: 9319863
Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling improved service acquisition on a first SIM of a multi-SIM wireless communication device. After the first SIM has lost service, the wireless device may detect a condition triggering a public mobile land network (PLMN) selection associated with the first SIM, receive an indication that service acquisition settings of the first SIM are set to a manual mode, and determine whether the second SIM is in idle mode. Upon determining that the second SIM is in idle mode, the wireless device may identify timing of a sleep cycle implemented by the second SIM, and perform the PLMN search using the first and second radio resources.

  • Publication number: 20150382361
Abstract: Various embodiments implemented on a mobile communication device (e.g., a multi-carrier-capable communication device) mitigate the degraded performance experienced by an aggressor subscription performing transmit blanking on an interfering carrier frequency during a coexistence event by leveraging the availability of a non-interfering carrier frequency. In various embodiments, the mobile communication device may signal the aggressor subscription's network to adjust resources granted to the interfering carrier frequency and the non-interfering carrier frequency to improve overall data throughput and/or to reduce the likelihood of reception problems, such as increased retransmission requests from the network and stalls/delays in sending subsequent transport blocks. If no change in resources is signaled by the network, the mobile communication device may reduce a size of transport blocks transmitted on the interfering carrier frequency.

  • Publication number: 20150078334
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for a method of cell acquisition, comprising obtaining, during an idle mode, a primary scrambling code (PSC) of a first cell of a first radio access technology (RAT) by a user equipment having a first subscription to the first RAT and a second subscription to a second RAT. Further, the methods and apparatus include performing a system information block (SIB) reading procedure for the first cell for one or more SIBs. Additionally, the methods and apparatus include determining whether any of the one or more SIBs are successfully decoded within a first time threshold during the SIB reading procedure for the first cell. Moreover, the methods and apparatus include aborting the SIB reading procedure for the first cell when the one or more SIBs are not successfully decoded within the first time threshold.
