  • Patent number: 8189532
Abstract: A mobile node comprising a handover engine configured to control the handover of the mobile node from one access node to another access node, said handover engine being arranged to provide TCP window size information to a TCP endpoint node, to which the mobile node is connected via a connection, before said handover engine initiates registration of a new location address for said connection.

    Assignee: Nokia Corporation
Inventors: Preetida Vinayakray-Jani, Pasi Antti Sarolahti
  • Publication number: 20110276403
Abstract: In an advertisement based movement detection a mobile node adjusts its advertisement waiting period when it receives an advertisement from a serving access entity of the mobile node and an advertisement from another access entity. By adjusting the waiting period a timely handover may be performed.

  • Publication number: 20110214166
Abstract: At a mobile internet protocol (MIP) enabled mobile node (MN), an internet key exchange (IKE) security association (SA) message is prepared and an extension is contained in the SA message indicative of an MIP binding related instruction to a home agent (HA). The SA message is then sent to a packet data network. At a network element, the SA message and an IKE SA message are received from the mobile node. The network element determines in the SA message an MIP binding related instruction to the HA and stores an MIP message based on the determined MIP related instruction. The network element also sends the MIP message to the HA of the MN.

  • Patent number: 7984486
Abstract: A Generic Authentication Architecture bootstrapping procedure is performed between a mobile terminal and a bootstrapping server function resulting in the mobile terminal and the bootstrapping server function each acquiring at least a bootstrapping transaction Identifier associated with the mobile terminal and a corresponding shared key. The mobile terminal derives a network application function specific key based on at least the acquired shared key and an identifier of said network application function. The bootstrapping transaction identifier and the network application function specific key are sent from the mobile terminal to the proxy mobile node. A request message for Mobile Internet Protocol registration is sent from the proxy mobile node to a home agent on behalf of the mobile terminal, the request message including the bootstrapping transaction identifier and an identifier of the proxy mobile node.

  • Publication number: 20080280615
Abstract: A method and apparatus for ensuring application of quality of service requirements on an access network. The method includes comparing, in a mobile communication device, one or more application signaling requirements of a selected application with one or more link characteristics of a link between the mobile communication device and an access node of an access network.

  • Patent number: 7362731
Abstract: A mechanism for selecting a serving network access entity for a mobile node in a communication system including network access entities broadcasting periodic advertisement messages. The method utilizes a waiting period measured from a first reference moment. When no advertisement message is received within the waiting period from the network access entity being currently the serving network access entity for the mobile node, the node issues a router solicitation message and initiates a measurement of a solicitation period from a second reference moment. The mobile node further monitors whether a response to the router solicitation message is received from the network access entity within the solicitation period, and based on the monitoring step decides whether it remains connected to the said network access entity.
