  • Publication number: 20110261916
Abstract: A method for detecting a specific timing from a synchronization channel is described. A signal with a known sequence is received. Two or more correlation values between the received signal and the known sequence are calculated at two or more positions. The two or more correlation values are compared. A determination is made whether the position of the known sequence has been shifted based on the comparison. A specific timing of a synchronization channel is detected based on the determination.

  • Patent number: 6697632
Abstract: A method of coordinating the delivery of two independent messages, of different mediums, for simultaneous presentation is provided. The messages are communicated in a system capable of including coordination plans with the messages. The coordination plans include the identity of the independent messages, points in the messages where the coordination begins, and the duration of the presentation. Once linkage points in the first and second messages are defined, the relationship between messages is defined, so that independent messages 10 are displayed with predefined, meaningful timing. In communication system flexible enough to support real-time, two-way communications, such as wireless telephones, at least one of the messages to be coordinated can be received and presented in real-time. A system of coordinating two independent messages with a coordination plan message is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6377811
Abstract: A system and method is provided to permit a mobile phone the options of line-selection and direct station selection (DSS). When the wireless system is interfaced to a land-line system through a limited number of lines, dual-function keys select and capture available outside lines. Other dual-function keys permit other mobile stations in the system to be accessed through a single keystroke. A field of indicators associated with these keys signals the availability of these lines and stations. These line-select/DSS keys are also useable to dial telephone numbers in the traditional method. The virtual line-select concept is also applicable to select land-lines and wireless channels in a group distributed network. Likewise, the virtual DSS function is applicable to monitor and access a select group of mobile stations in the group-distribution system.

  • Patent number: 5721762
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for using the brief time intervals between cellular telephone calls on a primary cellular network to transmit and receive data over a second data-only network. The invention uses the built-in capability of the primary network to monitor and track each call and to identify the relatively short-duration intervals between each call to pinpoint when a short burst of data from the second network can be transmitted without interfering with primary network calls. The data network includes a separate telephone exchange. Selected base stations of the primary cellular network are shared with the data-only network. Land lines or other connections link the data network exchange with the shared base stations. Preferably, the data network is accessible via a public packet data network. Data calls on the second network are directed to the shared base stations and inserted into the brief intervals between primary network calls.
