  • Patent number: 8589514
Abstract: A system for a server-less peer-to-peer data network for content transfer between wireless devices is described. The system includes a first wireless device having a first address and content, and a second wireless device. The first wireless device transmits a message including the first address over a first service. The second wireless device receives the message from the first wireless device and establishes a communication path to the first address over a second service to receive the content from the first wireless device. A method embodiment includes transmitting a message from a first wireless device to a second wireless device over a first service, wherein the message includes a first address. The method further includes establishing, by the second wireless device, a communication path over a second service to the first address to receive content from the first wireless device after receiving the message from the first wireless device.

  • Patent number: 8145571
Abstract: A content transfer control system for a wireless device and a method of controlling content transfer from a wireless device are described. The system includes a content transfer control component arranged to (a) detect licensed content and (b) transfer a content source indicating a source of the licensed content responsive to detection of licensed content. The method includes transmitting content from the wireless device if the content is not determined to be licensed content and transmitting a content source from the wireless device if the content is determined to be licensed content.

  • Patent number: 7636333
Abstract: A method of customizing a wireless device to a predetermined configuration is described. A wireless device configured with at least one carrier-specific parameter for a first carrier is modified to access at least one carrier-specific parameter for a second carrier during operation of the wireless device and responsive to a predetermined network switch input received by the wireless device. A carrier customization module system for a wireless device includes a carrier customization module loader executed by the wireless device which is configured with at least one carrier-specific parameter for a first carrier. The loader selects at least one carrier-specific parameter for a second carrier from among one or more carrier-specific parameters during operation of the wireless device and responsive to a predetermined network switch input received by the wireless device. The loader modifies the wireless device to access the second carrier using the selected carrier-specific parameter for the second carrier.

  • Publication number: 20080126294
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for communicating of media files between wireless communication devices. A media file is segmented and speech-encoded on a first wireless communication device and subsequently communicated, typically via Multimedia Peer (M2-Peer) communication, to a second communication device, which decodes and concatenates the speech-encoded media file for subsequent playback capability on the second communication device.

  • Publication number: 20080115170
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are presented for recording broadcast media content at a wireless communication device and, in some aspects, sharing the recorded broadcast media content with other wireless communication devices. The disclosed aspects capture broadcasted media content at predetermined times by implementing a clock function that launches the capture and record module at the predetermined time. In certain aspects, the device incorporates a search function that allows for the predetermined selection of media content criteria that is used to search and determine the media content that is encoded and stored for subsequent use and/or sharing. In other aspects, the recorded broadcast media content is shared with other wireless communication devices by encoding the recorded/stored media content in a speech-format and communicating the speech-formatted media content to other wireless devices.
