Patent number: 5322262Abstract: A gate valve has a housing for a valve seat, and an attachment which extends outwardly from the housing and constitutes an extension thereof. A cap is secured to the attachment at the end of the latter remote from the housing, and a plate which traverses the attachment is held between the cap and the attachment. An externally threaded, non-rotary valve stem extends between the cap and the housing and passes through the plate. The valve stem meshes with an internally threaded, rotatable sleeve which receives the valve stem and is connected to a handwheel. The sleeve is at least partially confined by the cap and the plate, and both the cap and the plate are provided with bearing locations for the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1991Date of Patent: June 21, 1994Assignee: KSB AktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Bartoschek, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 5217205Abstract: A valve has a housing, and a partition in the housing which is inclined to the transverse and longitudinal axes of the housing. The partition, which is welded to the housing, consists of a plate having an opening formed by bending portions of the plate out of the plane of the latter. The bent portions are inclined to such plane and include surfaces which bound the opening. These surfaces extend conically and define a valve seat.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1991Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: KSB AktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Bartoschek, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 5188339Abstract: A valve has a valve seat, and a housing which accommodates the seat. The housing is formed from two sheet metal shells each of which has two sections. A first section of each shell defines a conical frustum, and the larger-diameter end of each frustum is bevelled. The second section of each shell is cylindrical and is seamlessly connected to the bevelled end of the respective first section so that the first and second sections of each shell are inclined relative to one another. The second sections have respective plane end faces which confront one another and are located in planes intersecting both the transverse and longitudinal axes of the valve. A circumferentially complete weld seam bonds the end faces to each other.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1991Date of Patent: February 23, 1993Assignee: KSB AktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Bartoschek, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 5178365Abstract: A gate valve has a housing, a valving element in the housing, and a seat in the housing which cooperates with the valving element and extends transverse to the flow direction. The valving element is carried by a spindle which serves to move the valving element into and out of engagement with the seat. A support for the spindle is disposed in the housing and has a central, outwardly directed flange which defines a passage for the spindle. The flange is coupled to the spindle in the region of the valving element so that the support moves with the spindle. The support is in sliding engagement with the internal surface of the housing to thus guide the spindle and support the latter against transverse forces generated by flow through the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1991Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: KSB ASktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Bartoschek, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 5161780Abstract: A gate valve has a housing which accommodates a valve seat as well as a valving element designed to cooperate with the valve seat. The valving element is mounted on a stem which extends through a cover of the housing and functions to move the valving element into and out of engagement with the seat. A sealing unit for the stem is located adjacent the cover and includes a deep drawn, sheet metal carrier which is mounted on the housing and has a central socket. The stem passes through the socket, and the sealing unit further includes one or more sleeve-like seals which are disposed in the socket and surround the stem. The carrier has a flange which extends outwards from the socket to the housing wall. A corrugation is formed in the flange and abuts the housing wall to thereby center the carrier.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1991Date of Patent: November 10, 1992Assignee: KSB AktiengesellschaftInventors: Manfred Bartoschek, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 5082425Abstract: An impeller for a centrifugal pump has a hub which is designed to be affixed to the pump shaft. The hub carries a first cover plate which is located at the pressure side of the impeller and supports a series of vanes defining flow channels. The first cover plate is secured to the bases of the vanes and a second cover plate situated at the suction side of the impeller abuts the tops of the vanes and overlies the flow channels. A suction port constituting an individually manufactured component is disposed at the inlet of the impeller and has a section of constant diameter which faces away from the vanes as well as a section of variable diameter which confronts the vanes. The section of variable diameter is connected to the tops of the vanes by a weld seam. The second cover plate overlies that end portion of the suction port having the greatest diameter and is secured to the tops of the vanes in an area between the suction port and the impeller outlet.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1990Date of Patent: January 21, 1992Assignee: KSB AktiengesellschaftInventors: Axel Reil, Rolf Scherer, Jorg Starke, Renzo Ghiotte, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 4775295Abstract: The subject of the invention is a casing jacket for centrifugal pumps in which the suction side connecting flange is integrated in the casing jacket and the actual suction nozzle is located inside the casing jacket. A high degree of pressure resistance is obtained by embossed, corrugation-like spaces for the suction side flange connecting means and a corresponding curved or spherical outer contour of the casing jacket.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1987Date of Patent: October 4, 1988Assignees: Klein, Schanzlin & Becker Aktiengesellschaft, Lowara S.p.A.Inventors: Jorg Starke, Rolf Scherer, Renzo Ghiotto, Primo Lovisetto

Patent number: 4720242Abstract: An impeller for a centrifugal pump is disclosed for attenuating the effects of pressure and flow surges experienced by the pump. The impeller includes a rotatable impeller shaft to which a plurality of circumferentially-spaced vanes are mounted for rotation therewith, the vanes extending outwardly relative to the impeller shaft and each including first and second axially spaced edges. First and second axially-spaced cover members are provided for the plurality of vanes, the cover members being mounted for rotation with the impeller shaft and extending outwardly relative to the axial direction of the impeller shaft. The first cover member is disposed adjacent to first edges of the vane and the second cover member is disposed adjacent to second edges of the vane so as to provide an impeller chamber between the first and second cover members which is divided into subchambers by the vanes.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1987Date of Patent: January 19, 1988Assignee: Lowara, S.p.A.Inventor: Primo Lovisetto
