  • Patent number: 9533974
Abstract: New chemiluminescent compounds, stable in aqueous buffers, for use in biological assaying include acridane-based compounds and 1,2-dioxetanes. Among the new acridane-based compounds are water-soluble acridanes, enhancer coupled acridanes, bis and tris-acridanes as well as acridane-1,2-dioxetanes. Among the new 1,2-dioxetanes are electron deficient group-containing dioxetanes and tethered bis-1,2-dioxetanes. The 1,2-dioxetanes are useful as substrates for various enzymes. The acridanes can be admixed with an oxidizing agent, an aqueous buffer and, optionally, a stabilizer to form a substrate or reagent formulation useful for assaying, inter alia, HRP.

  • Patent number: 4377623
Abstract: The invention relates to an electro-chemical cell having an electrolyte comprising water, a halogen other than fluorine, a halide other than fluoride, which is not oxidized by the halogen as a soluble salt, and a stable, saturated, organic nitrile or dinitrile containing from 2 to 5 carbon atoms or a mixture thereof, said electrolyte being composed such as to exist in two phases, a first phase being halogen and nitrile-rich and a second phase being water-rich and containing halide salt, the cell having an inert electrode in the halogen and nitrile-rich phase and an electrode, containing or contacting halogen oxidizable material, in the water-rich phase. The electro-chemical cell of the invention is particularly applicable to systems containing zinc as the halogen oxidizable material. The use of the nitrile-rich phase reduces the degree of reaction between the halogen and the halogen oxidizable material.

  • Patent number: 4107055
Abstract: A fabric coating composition, including a polymer having a glass transition temperature above room temperature, an ionic fluorinated surfactant and a carrier. The preferred fluorinated surfactants have 5 to 30 carbons per hydrophylic end and include fluoro ether surfactants having radicals of the formula (CF.sub.3).sub.2 CFOCF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 -- or fluoroalkyl surfactants having radicals of the formula CnF.sub.2n+1 -- where n is 6 to 12. The polymer may be dissolved or, preferably, emulsified by an emulsifier to form a latex. The polymer is preferably applied to fabric at a rate giving a dry solids content of about 0.25 to 10%, to give dry soil resistance.
