  • Patent number: 11876497
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for progressively transitioning the playback volume based on a background noise level. The device may have a predetermined quantity of volume levels between a minimum volume and a maximum volume. The volume levels may be spaced by predetermined increments, such that there is a predefined difference between adjacent volume levels. A digital gain may be used to adjust the volume level and an analog gain may allow for the playback volume to be adjusted to an amount between adjacent volume levels. The playback volume may progressively transition within the predefined volume levels by an amount less than the predetermined difference between adjacent volume levels. This smaller amount may be the analog gain.

  • Publication number: 20220328057
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and method for determining a background noise level. The device may receive audio from two or more microphones. The audio may include a first signal and a second signal, such that each microphone receives its own signal. The time, loudness, frequency of the first and second signals may be compared to determine the source of the audio, such as whether the audio is the user's voice or background noise. Based on the source of the audio, the audio may be suppressed to reduce false estimations when calculating the background noise level.

  • Publication number: 20220294405
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for progressively transitioning the playback volume based on a background noise level. The device (800) may have a predetermined quantity of volume levels between a minimum volume and a maximum volume. The volume levels may be spaced by predetermined increments, such that there is a predefined difference between adjacent volume levels. A digital gain (102) may be used to adjust the volume level and an analog gain (106) may allow for the playback volume to be adjusted to an amount between adjacent volume levels. The playback volume may progressively transition within the predefined volume levels by an amount less than the predetermined difference between adjacent volume levels. This smaller amount may be the analog gain (106).

  • Patent number: 10739030
Abstract: Various arrangements for monitoring and controlling operation of a HVAC system are provided. Battery-operated temperature monitoring devices may be situated within the structure and connected with a network. A user command may be received that includes a selection of at least one of the battery-operated temperature monitoring devices. An offset may be calculated based on an evaluation of a first temperature reading of the selected battery-operated temperature monitoring device relative to a second temperature reading of the thermostat. The offset may be overridden when an override condition is present.

  • Publication number: 20190277528
Abstract: A method for monitoring and controlling operation of a HVAC system within a structure comprises providing a thermostat configured to regulate the HVAC system. The method includes situating a plurality of battery-operated temperature monitoring devices within the structure and coupling the thermostat and each of the plurality of battery-operated temperature monitoring devices to a network. The method comprises receiving over the network a user command that includes a selection of at least one of the battery-operated temperature monitoring devices. The method includes computing at the thermostat an offset based on an evaluation of a first temperature reading of the at least one selected battery-operated temperature monitoring device relative to a second temperature reading of the thermostat. The method comprises applying the offset to the thermostat to cause the thermostat to regulate the HVAC system in view of the first temperature reading, and overriding the offset when an override condition is met.
