  • Patent number: 11849421
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some user equipment (UE) may be equipped with multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs). A multi-SIM UE may receive a control message at a first SIM which indicates a set of sounding reference signal (SRS) resources for receiving SRS according to a first periodicity. The UE may also receive a registration message at a second SIM which includes a first parameter indicating a first set of paging occasions for receiving paging messages in accordance with a second periodicity. The UE may identify a collision in time between the one or more SRS resources and paging resources, and may transmit a registration request message to a base station. The UE may then receive a second registration message which includes a second parameter for calculating a second set of paging occasions that have a third periodicity that are non-overlapping with the SRS resources.

  • Patent number: 11310768
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support monitoring for paging messages from a base station (e.g., a cellular network node) using a greater periodicity than a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle periodicity. A UE may monitor for and receive paging messages from a network node using a first subscription registered with a first radio access technology (RAT) while operating in DRX mode for a second RAT associated with the base station. The UE may identify a first periodicity for monitoring for paging messages from the base station that is greater than the DRX periodicity. The UE may have a second subscription that may be registered with a second base station. The UE may perform a tuneaway procedure from the second base station and monitor for paging messages from the base station according to the first periodicity.

  • Patent number: 10588136
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are related to a method, apparatus and system for adjusting a processing bandwidth or frequency domain buffer decimation associated with reference signals, for example, positioning reference signals (PRS). By reducing the number of, for example, resource blocks and/or resource elements to be processed, the power involved in processing the reference signal can be reduced. Hence, in some implementations, aspects of the disclosure can enable low-power low-bandwidth devices, such as NarrowBand Internet of Things (IoT) (NBIoT), to decode reference signals such as PRS.

  • Publication number: 20180332537
Abstract: Various features related to reducing power consumption by devices during discovery periods D2D communication system, are described. In an aspect, a transmission pattern learning based intelligent monitoring approach is used. In certain configurations, an apparatus, e.g., a UE, may be configured to monitor, during a first set of discovery periods, transmissions of a plurality of different PACs associated with different applications, and identify PACs of interest from the plurality of different PACs. In some configurations, the apparatus maybe further configured to identify, based on the monitoring, transmission patterns of the PACs of interest, and monitor, during a second set of discovery periods, transmissions corresponding to the PACs of interest based on the identified transmission patterns. In some configurations, the PACs of interest monitored during the second set of discovery periods may be a subset of the plurality of different PACs monitored during the first set of discovery periods.

  • Patent number: 9959746
Abstract: In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) determines an emergency health condition for a user that is defined based on a set of health-related parameters crossing a corresponding set of thresholds. The UE receives health data from a set of health monitoring sensors that are each configured to monitor one or more health-related parameters of the user. The UE detects, while a restricted mode restricting access to a set of communicative functions of the UE is active, that the emergency health condition for the user exists based on the received health data indicating that the set of health-related parameters have crossed the corresponding set of thresholds. The UE disables the restricted mode in response to the detecting. The UE conveys, using one or more communicative functions from the set of communicative functions that are made available by the disabling of the restricted mode, an alarm related to the detected emergency health condition for the user.

  • Publication number: 20150350994
Abstract: The disclosure provides for monitoring neighbor cells while in an offline idle mode. A wireless device monitors cells during a periodic monitoring cycle while in the offline idle mode. In particular, the wireless device monitors the cells by classifying each cell of a list of neighbor cells as one of a first type of neighbor cell having valid overhead information stored in a cache and a second type of neighbor cell that is not associated with valid overhead information stored in the cache. The wireless device selects a monitoring set including an active cell and a subset of the neighbor cells including a cell of the second type of neighbor cell. The wireless device performs a pilot search of the monitoring set, during a periodic monitoring cycle while in a first idle mode state, to determine a signal strength of each cell in the monitoring set for a cell change.

  • Patent number: 9042491
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for receiving paging messages in fast fading scenarios. In one aspect, a method of demodulating a paging message during an assigned time slot by a wireless communications apparatus operating in an idle mode is provided. The method includes determining, in anticipation of the assigned time slot, an expected time position corresponding to a path of a pilot signal having a greater signal strength relative to other pilot signals. The method further includes assigning a first demodulation element to demodulate the pilot signal with reference to the expected time position and assigning a second demodulation element to demodulate the pilot signal with reference to a time offset from the expected time position. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
