  • Patent number: 11865621
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a gear assembly of a gearbox in a wind turbine includes providing a pin shaft of the gear assembly. The method also includes depositing material onto an exterior surface of the pin shaft of the gear assembly via an additive manufacturing process driven by a computer numerical control (CNC) device to form a bearing that circumferentially surrounds and adheres to the pin shaft. Further, the method includes providing a gear circumferentially around the bearing to form the gear assembly.

Date of Patent: January 9, 2024
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Hayden McgarityBashiri, Aaron Wertz, Kevin M. Vandevoorde, Raed Zuhair Hasan, Priyangu C. Patel, John P. Davis, Ganesh Raut

  • Patent number: 10502193
Abstract: A repair method for a gearbox assembly for a wind turbine is disclosed. The gearbox includes a gearbox housing having an upwind end and a downwind end, a gear assembly configured within the gearbox housing, at least one shaft configured with the gear assembly and extending from the gearbox housing to a generator of the wind turbine, and a sleeve assembly configured with the gearbox housing. Further, the sleeve assembly is removable so as to provide additional space in the gearbox housing during at least one of disassembly or assembly of the gearbox assembly such that the various components can be easily repaired and/or replaced.

  • Patent number: 8376708
Abstract: A drivetrain for a wind turbine includes a gearbox and a generator. The gear box includes a housing and an output shaft that is rotatably coupled within the housing, wherein the gearbox further includes at least one bearing positioned between the housing and the output shaft. The generator includes a stator coupled to the housing such that the stator is positioned radially inward from the housing, and a rotor coupled to the output shaft such that the rotor is positioned radially inward from the stator.
