Patent number: 9843174Abstract: An interlocking system for a circuit breaker assembly including a circuit breaker having a plurality of contacts includes a racking screw coupled to the contacts that changes a position of the circuit breaker when engaged by a tool. The interlocking system also includes a front panel defining an opening through which the racking screw is accessible, an access door coupled to the front panel and configured to selectively cover the opening, and an access door stopper coupled to the front panel. The interlocking system also includes a trip assembly coupled to the access door stopper. Each of the access door, the access door stopper, and the trip assembly are moveable between a first position and a second position such that moving to the first position triggers delivery of a trip signal to the circuit breakers to open the plurality of contacts, and wherein, in the second position, the access door is fully open to enable access to the racking screw through the front panel.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2016Date of Patent: December 12, 2017Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Przemyslaw Eugeniusz Cieply, Ryszard Rzepecki, Andrew Matthew Candelora, Nagesh V. Tumu, Szymon Wasik, Alisha M. Davis

Patent number: 8988175Abstract: An override device is described for use with a coupler of a circuit breaker. The override device comprising a cam member coupled to the coupler. The cam member comprising a slot. The override device also including an actuator coupled to the cam member and configured to move the cam member between an over-current protection position and an over-current relay override position and a push member coupled to the coupler. The slot configured to guide the push member to a first position when the actuator moves the cam member to the over-current protection position. The slot further configured to guide the push member to a second position when the actuator moves the cam member to the over-current relay override position to permit current flow through the circuit breaker.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2012Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Przemyslaw Eugeniusz Cieply, Wolfgang Meyer-Haack, Jacek Marian Urbanowicz, Rafal Marek Mrotek, Jacek Stanislaw Mrowiec

Patent number: 8796568Abstract: A switching assembly having an interlock device for a selector switch is provided. The interlock device includes a flapper member rotatably coupled to a base member. The flapper member has an aperture disposed proximate to an aperture of a panel such that the selector switch extends through the apertures. The flapper member further includes an indented region and has a first operational position proximate to the panel and a second operational position disposed outwardly from the panel. When an arm portion of the selector switch is disposed within the indented region of the flapper member at the second rotational position and the flapper member is rotated to the second operational position, then the arm portion cannot be rotated outside of the indented region.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2010Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Jacek Stanislaw Mrowiec, Przemyslaw Eugeniusz Cieply, Marcin Piotr Lagiewka, Rafal Marek Mrotek
