  • Publication number: 20160142759
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus can provide channel scanning. In various examples, a channel scanning module can instruct scanning of multiple channels within a wideband frequency range by assigning channels to demodulators to attempt to lock onto a signal at the assigned channel. In other examples, a channel scanning module can instruct scanning for downstream channels by assigning channels to multiple narrowband tuners and multiple demodulators to attempt to lock onto a signal on the assigned channel.

  • Publication number: 20160085399
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) for processing one or more real time data streams captured in a distributed computing environment. In accordance with the system(s) and method(s), a GUI may be provided that enables a user to design a GUI pipeline comprising multiple sub-systems executing logic associated with a plurality of applications. Each of the sub-systems in the pipeline may be configured with different parameters by the user using the GUI. Further, the user may configure to integrate the multiple sub-systems through the GUI. Further, the user may control and/or update the configuration of the logic, configuration of the parameters, and the integration of the multiple sub-systems through the GUI. The updating of the configuration is automatically notified to the running pipeline in real time. Further, the GUT facilitates to monitor performance of the running pipeline in real time.

  • Publication number: 20150233903
Abstract: Highly specific and novel solid phase methods for analyzing glycans and proteoglycans using a solid phase system are provided. The present invention also provides an integrated apparatus and methods of use which comprises a high-throughput glycan isolation and reverse-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) for on-chip glycan extraction, modification and separation. The coverage of detected N-glycans by the GIG-chip-LC apparatus of the present invention can be significantly improved, especially for the low abundant species. Chip-LC by PGC minimizes dynamic range of glycan concentrations in fractions, resulting in detection of low-abundance glycans. Glycan isomers were able to be separated by the chip-LC portion of the apparatus. The GIG-chip-LC apparatus of the present invention can be used to analyze glycans from tissue and sera samples, thus providing a reliable tool for glycomic analysis.

  • Patent number: 8865206
Abstract: Dermal delivery is best suited for the various skin diseases or disorders. However, the stratum corneum limits the permeation of number of suitable pharmaceutical agents for dermal delivery. Certain embodiments of the present invention include surface modified multilayered nanostructures. The modification was completed by using fatty acids enabling delivery of a significant amount of one or more pharmaceutical agent(s) into deeper layers of the epidermis and dermis to treat skin diseases or disorders. Each active pharmaceutical agent can be encapsulated into the separate layers of the nanostructures.

  • Patent number: 8834169
Abstract: A method and apparatus for upper limb rehabilitation training of coordinated arm/forearm, forearm/forearm and grasping movements of a motor impaired patient comprises a nonrobotic, passive support, an arm/forearm sensor, a gripping device, a grip sensor capable of measuring an impaired grasping force of a grasping of the patient, a computer to process measurements of coordinated and simultaneous impaired arm/forearm, forearm/forearm and grasping movements to control a graphical representation of the arm/forearm and grasping movements in interaction with a virtual environment, and to provide a visual feedback signal to the patient of simulated normal activities of daily living performed with enhanced motor ability relative to the actual impaired motor ability. A visual feedback signal of the simulated activities of daily living is provided to motivate the patient to perform the upper limb rehabilitation movement training despite limited motor ability.

  • Publication number: 20080080607
Abstract: A digital equalizer of a communication signal processor includes a shift register having a fixed portion and a variable portion. The fixed portion includes delay taps that are optimized for mitigating the effects of reflections of a desired signal. The variable portion includes delay taps, the configuration of which can be optimized either for mitigating the effects of reflections (reflection mode) or to suppress spurious noise (spurious mode). The decision whether to switch between a current mode and the other mode is based on statistical analysis of signal symbols received during a sample window. If statistical analysis metrics are outside predetermined criteria, an analysis portion of the processor instructs the variable portion to change modes. The digital equalizer algorithm for adjusting the variable portion can be used for initial lock. The sample window size can also be dynamically updated for use during continuous operation.

  • Publication number: 20060101224
Abstract: Database partition monitoring and dynamic logical partition reconfiguration in support of an autonomic self-tunable database management system are provided by an automated monitor that monitors one or more resource parameters in a logical partition running a database application in a logically partitioned data processing host. The monitor initiates dynamic logical partition reconfiguration in the event that the parameters vary from predetermined parameter values. In particular, the monitor can initiate removal of resources if one of the resource parameters is being underutilized and initiate addition of resources if one of the resource parameters is being overutilized. The monitor can also calculate an amount of resources to be removed or added. The monitor can interact directly with a dynamic logical partition reconfiguration function of the data processing host or it can utilize an intelligent intermediary that listens for a partition reconfiguration suggestion from the monitor.

  • Publication number: 20040210940
Abstract: An frequency offset message generated by a CMTS is applied by a cable modem to the actual frequency to which it is currently tuned. Quantizing error, or truncation error, occurs only once, since the offset is determined based on the actual tuned frequency. The frequency offset message is converted into a digital offset word—giving rise to quantizing error—and is then applied to another digital word that represents the currently tuned frequency.
