  • Patent number: 5313993
Abstract: A toner container receiving apparatus has a sump and a sump opening with box-like upwardly extending vertical walls around the sump opening. A toner container includes box-shaped downwardly extending walls which fit around the sump walls when the container is positioned over the sump. A flexible cover is movable from a covering position above the box-shaped walls through a curved path to a position alongside an exterior vertical wall of the container. A lever on the receiving apparatus is movable to a vertical position and is coupled to structure which locks the container to the sump during that movement. A handle connected to the cover is positioned to fit into a slot into the lever and prevent moving of the lever away from its vertical locking position until the cover has been moved to its covering position. The cover is flexible enough to move through the curved path but stiff enough to be pushed back to its covering position.

  • Patent number: 5274468
Abstract: Apparatus and method for reproduction of an original document wherein image information on the document is selected by character-coding to designate the information for treatment according to one or more particular selective editing or machine control functions. Each character code is predefinable by the user by marking one or more code definition sheets. The documents and code definition sheets are placed in a document handler and passed over a scanner that is sensitive to the image information, the character coding, and the markings on the code definition sheets. The sensed image information is processed according to a determination of the desired functions. A marking engine then provides hard copy reproductions of the original documents from the processed image information.

  • Patent number: 4987447
Abstract: Reproduction apparatus includes a scanner having an automatic document handler for stream feeding hardcopy originals to an exposure position. Job setup instructions are stored in memory, and are converted to a rasterized bit map of machine readable indicia corresponding to the setup instructions. A control sheet is produced according to the rasterized bit map so that future production runs with the same setup configuration can be produced with minimum operator intervention by scanning control sheets and converting indicia thereon to setup information.
