  • Publication number: 20200026659
Abstract: Systems for virtual memory computing systems. A set of hardware or software operational elements of a computing system performs virtualized memory paging. The operational elements serve to identify a random access memory device and at least one random access persistent memory device (RAPM) in a computing system. The random access persistent memory device is configured as a swap device that is apportioned as having at least some address space for swap. At least some of the swap address space is assigned to one or more virtualized entities in the computing system. When a page swap event is detected by the computing system, one or more of the operational elements execute one or more paging operations based on characteristics of the page swap event. The paging operations perform swap-in or swap-out of at least one page between the random access memory device and the random access persistent memory device.

  • Publication number: 20200019230
Abstract: A hyper-converged computing system may include multiple computing nodes and a power management system. Each computing node may have a processor operating at a power state. Each computing node may receive a power budget from the power management system, determine an instant power consumption in the node and determine whether the instant power consumption is approaching the power budget. If the instant power consumption is approaching the power budget, the computing node may adjust the power consumption of the node. The power management system may determine an initial power budget rule for each computing node and transmit the initial power budget rule to each respective computing node. The power management system may also obtain various provisioning and status from the multiple computing nodes and use the provisioning and status to update the power budget rules for each respective computing node.

  • Patent number: 7953433
Abstract: A data storage device tracing system includes at least one container configured to maintain at least one electronic data storage device, a two-way radio coupled to each of the container(s), and a network including a network coordinator configured to transmit to and receive data from the two-way radio. In this regard, the two-way radio communicates real-time container location data to the network coordinator to enable real-time tracing of the container(s) and the electronic data storage device(s).

  • Patent number: 7660812
Abstract: The invention is directed to a business technique for supplying customers with a set of data storage media and a database for tracking physical inventory of the set of data storage media. The media tracking database is generated by the media supplier from a proprietary manufacturer database that stores a unique identification number, volume/serial (VolSer) number, purchase order data, and other manufacturing data. Accordingly, the media tracking database includes a subset of the plurality of fields that form the manufacturer database. Specifically, the media tracking database is populated with the manufacturer assigned unique identification umber, VolSer number, and purchase order data for each of the data storage media prior to selling the database to the customer. When the customer receives the media tracking database, it can be relationally linked to tape management, library management, and off-site storage software thereby providing complete cradle-to-grave traceability of the set of data storage media.

  • Publication number: 20080198487
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to techniques for transferring data files representing a digital motion picture to a motion picture system within a theater in a single step. More specifically, the techniques allow a user to press one button to initiate the transfer, or upload, of a plurality of data files stored on a data tape to a predetermined location within a data storage device within the theater. The single input from the user frees the user from completing the plurality of steps needed to manually select a desired data file from the data tape and find the location to transfer the data file. Instead, the data tape or user system may automatically identify the entire plurality of data files and the predetermined location at which to store the plurality of data files. The techniques facilitate the distribution of motion pictures from motion picture studios to theaters using magnetic tape media.
