  • Publication number: 20080108375
Abstract: For use in a wireless network, a base station that reduces the call set-up time for a time-sensitive application. The base station comprises a message controller for receiving an incoming control message that initiates the time-sensitive application in a mobile station. In lieu of a conventional page message, the message controller transmits a short data burst message to the mobile station to initiate the time-sensitive application. The short data burst message is transmitted in a forward control channel. The mobile station completes the set-up by transmitting back an L2 Acknowledgment message in lieu of a conventional page response message.

A given communication channel has a unique first parameter associated with it. A plurality of second parameters, each associated with a specific traffic function, is provided. An individual traffic element is assigned a first and second parameter, indicating its channel allocation and traffic function, respectively. Other traffic elements are also assigned a first and second parameter, and may be allowed concurrent access to a given communication channel if their second parameter is different from the second parameter of the individual traffic element. Access to communication channels may also be prioritized based upon a traffic element's assigned second parameter.

  • Publication number: 20070091788
Abstract: A system for providing parallel, concurrent transmission of multiple DRC elements is disclosed. An assignment element assigns, for each access terminal in an access network, two DRC-related parameters. A first parameter is assigned to uniquely identify a given access terminal. A second parameter is assigned to identify DRC traffic for that access terminal. An allocation message, such as a traffic channel allocation message, is modified to communicate the parameters from the access network to an access terminal. The access terminal processes its DRC traffic with both parameters, enabling the access network to identify its transmissions regardless of time multiplexing.

  • Publication number: 20060172703
Abstract: A wireless network base station capable of canceling interference caused by a dominant interferer signal from a mobile station. The base station comprises down-converts an RF to a down-converted signal, r(n). K complex PN demodulators multiply the down-converted complex r(n) signal by PN code sequences associated with each of the K mobile stations to produce K chip streams. K Walsh code demodulators multiply each of the K chip streams by a Walsh code associated with a mobile stations to produce K raw user signals. K subtractors subtract a first estimated interference signal associated with the dominant interferer signal from the K raw user signals to produce K estimated user signals. A detector receives the K estimated user signals and produces a detected user signal for each of the mobile stations. An interference estimator then determines which detected user signal is the dominant interferer signal.
