  • Patent number: 12626208
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards reducing the carbon footprint arising from a client's operational workloads performed at a data center. Various embodiments are presented to enable assessment of the client's requirements regarding the workloads performed on digital data stored at one or more data centers. Based thereon, a determination can be made regarding improving the hosting and operation of the workloads to reduce the carbon footprint. The carbon footprint can be reduced based on energy supply to the data center (e.g., fossil fuel versus green energy sources), utilizing newer generation data servers versus older, lower capacity, inefficient data servers, pooling workloads onto a single moderate to high efficiency server, and the like. The determination to reduce the carbon footprint can be performed locally within a data center or globally across a community of data centers.

  • Publication number: 20250335277
Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating the effective age of an IHS are disclosed. An example method comprises determining an operational age of the IHS. The method further includes determining a workload factor representing an intensity level for workloads run on the IHS, determining a maintenance factor representing currency of firmware and driver updates for the IHS, determining a history factor representing issues observed as impacting the IHS, impacting hardware on similar IHS models, or impacting software on the IHS, and determining a support factor representing currency of warranties for the IHS and related hardware. The method then calculates a real age of the IHS based upon the operational age, the workload factor, the maintenance factor, the history factor, and the support factor. The method further comprises calculating a performant age of the IHS based upon a refresh cycle duration and the real age.

  • Publication number: 20250093856
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid cooling leakage abatement system includes a systems manager having executable instructions for obtaining location information for each of a plurality of components of a computing cluster in which at least a portion of the components are cooled by a liquid cooling system via a liquid coolant. When the systems manager receives leakage information associated with a leak in the liquid cooling system used to cool a first component, it infers a second component that is affected by the leak, and generates an alert message indicating that the first and second components that are affected by the leak.

  • Patent number: 12169537
Abstract: A scope-based access control system includes a systems manager that is executed to receive a request to perform an operation on one of multiple computing devices in which the request includes a session identifier associated with an established session of a user who issued the request. The systems manager forwards the request and the session identifier to a global authentication authority. The global authentication authority responds to the request by issuing a claim that specifies a computing device group that the session is authorized to access. The systems manager receives the claim specifying a computing device group from the global authentication authority. The systems manager then performs the operation based on whether the one computing device is included in the computing device group.

  • Publication number: 20240231986
Abstract: Cause alert and clear alert correlation is disclosed. The presently disclosed subject matter discloses generating a clear alert that can identify a related existing cause alert based on determining an updated hardware, software, and/or environmental state of a device, device role, etc. The clear alert can be positively correlated to the existing cause alert based on the identification of the cause alert comprised in the clear alert. The correlation of the cause and clear alert can be employed to alter a resolution event. Further, the correlation of the cause and clear alert can be employed to alter alert information that can be accessed by a user, such as an admin, etc., e.g., a cause alert can be marked as resolved after correlation to the clear alert, which can reduce extraneous alert information presented to an admin, for example, in an alert log, summary alert log, system health dashboard, etc.

  • Patent number: 11748092
Abstract: An information handling system includes a memory, a chassis management controller, and a management controller. The memory stores an update catalog and an update sequence catalog. The chassis management controller determines one or more components to update and provides an update request associated with the components. In response to the reception of the update request, the management controller retrieves the update catalog and the update sequence catalog from the memory and determines whether updates for all the components will be completed successfully. In response to the determination that the updates for all the components will be completed successfully, the management controller provides a list of updates for the chassis management controller to install in the information handling system. Otherwise, the management controller provides a user of the information handling system with a set of pre-requisite component versions to include within the update request.

  • Publication number: 20230106795
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a plugin ranking system includes computer-executable instructions for use in a computing environment configured with multiple hardware components. The instructions may be executed to determine a collective operating characteristic of the hardware components, and rank the plurality of plugins according to a relevance of the management function of each plugin to the determined operating characteristic in which the plugins are each configured to perform a different management function for managing the computing environment. Once ranked, the instructions can then provide an indication of the ranked plugins for consumption by a user.

  • Publication number: 20230105250
Abstract: A self-encrypted drive (SED) setup system uses a systems manager executable program that stores user account information associated with an External Key Management Server (EKMS) service provided by an EKMS in which the user account information has a unique identifier of an associated Information Handling System (IHS). Using the stored user account information, the systems manager may setup a secure encrypted drive (SED) on the IHS by generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for the IHS, communicate with a Certificate Authority (CA) associated with the EKMS to obtain a signed CSR and an EKMS certificate, and load the signed CSR and the EKMS certificate on the IHS when the IHS is to be registered for use with the EKMS. The EKMS service is configured to provide a key for the computing device.

  • Patent number: 11150165
Abstract: Administration of IHSs (Information Handling Systems) within a data center results gradual drift of the configuration parameters of the individual IHSs such that the IHSs may no longer be in compliance with data center policies, such as policies in support of security and disaster recovery procedures. Embodiments provide techniques for distributed determination of drift within a network of managed IHSs, in which each managed IHS is provided with baselines for the configuration parameters utilized by each managed IHS. Using the provided baselines, each managed IHS identifies discrepancies between its current configuration and the applicable baselines. Based on discrepancies reported by the managed IHSs, a management console evaluates drift within the network of managed IHSs and determines when to trigger remediation procedures in order to correct the drift.
