The relay discovery method includes: receiving, by a first terminal, a discovery message transmitted by a second terminal via a Sidelink Signaling Radio Bearer (SL SRB); and parsing, by the first terminal, the discovery message to determine whether to select the second terminal as its relay terminal. In a relay discovery process, the discovery message can be transmitted via the sidelink signaling radio bearer, i.e., the discovery message can be transmitted without using a sidelink discovery channel. Thus, there is no need to add any transport channel or physical channel, which can reduce the system complexity.
