Publication number: 20230125652Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed relate to method for identification of preferred binding sites on intrinsically disorganized proteins (IDPs). The present disclosure includes methods including generating an IDP ensemble comprising one or more of the IDPs, sampling ligand interactions with the IDP ensemble to produce sampled ligand interactions, subjecting each of the sampled ligand interactions to an IDP ensemble docking, producing a differential binding score (DIBS) based on the sampled ligand interactions with the IDP ensemble docking, and modeling the DIBS to identify binding sites on the IDP ensemble.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2022Publication date: April 27, 2023Inventors: Qiao-Hong Chen, Viswanathan Krishnan

Patent number: 9499529Abstract: This invention relates generally to methods of treating aggressive cancers, such as hormone-refractory metastatic prostate cancer, by exposing the aggressive cancer cells to curcumin analogs having the claimed structural scaffolds and side groups. The anticancer effects of curcumin are associated with its influence on numerous growth factors within the cells. However, its clinical development has been limited by its suboptimal pharmacokinetics and poor bioavailability caused by poor solubility in water and rapid in vivo metabolism. There is the need to develop new and improved curcumin analogs with better potency, water solubility, and in vivo metabolic stability, as well as retained safety profiles. Curcumin analogs having one of the claimed four novel scaffolds with basic heteroaromatic side groups show the ability to decrease aggressive cancer cell viability and to inhibit aggressive cancer cell growth.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2014Date of Patent: November 22, 2016Assignee: California State University, FresnoInventor: Qiao-Hong Chen

Patent number: 9347940Abstract: A method of component assembly on a substrate, and an assembly of a bound component on a substrate. The method comprises the steps of forming a free-standing component having an optical characteristic; providing a pattern of a first binding species on the substrate or the free standing component; and forming a bound component on the substrate through a binding interaction via the first binding species; wherein the bound component exhibits substantially the same optical characteristic compared to the free-standing component.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: TAMIRAS PER PTE. LTD., LLCInventors: Till Bocking, John Justin Gooding, Kristopher A. Kilian, Michael Gal, Katharina Gaus, Peter John Reece, Qiao Hong

Patent number: 9124137Abstract: An energy management method is provided. The energy management method comprises the steps of retrieving load information from at least one load and retrieving energy-supplying information from an energy supply system having a grid power source, a renewable energy generation module and an energy storage module to instantly calculate first and second energy thresholds. When an energy production of the renewable energy generation module is smaller than the second energy threshold, the grid power source or the energy storage module is controlled to supply energy to the load. When the energy production is between the first and the second energy thresholds, the renewable energy generation module is controlled to supply energy to the load. When the energy production is larger than the first energy threshold, the renewable energy generation module is controlled to supply energy to the load and charge the energy storage module.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2011Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: INSTITUTE FOR INFORMATION INDUSTRYInventors: Shao-Hsuan Hsu, Pei-Lin Hou, Yu-Qiao Hong, Miao-Fen Chueh, Yu-Lun Hsu
