The method includes: capturing an optical signal, where the optical signal includes an optical signal, in an illumination region of a display screen, illuminating on a finger and reflected by the finger, the illuminating region is determined according to a pressing region within a fingerprint capturing region in which the finger performs a fingerprint pressing operation, and an area of the illuminating region is smaller than an area of the fingerprint capturing region; and performing fingerprint identification according to the optical signal.
