Publication number: 20120091880Abstract: A high performance fluorescent lamp includes an air-tight glass envelop having sealed ends and a light cavity filled with inert gas and coated with a phosphor powder at an inner wall of the glass envelop. Two filaments are sealed at the sealed ends of the glass envelop respectively. A channel is formed at one of the sealed ends of the glass envelop at a location communicating with the light cavity of the glass envelop. An amalgam is retained within the channel at a position forming a preset distance between the respective filament and the amalgam. Therefore, the fluorescent lamp can be operated under different ambient temperature or different wattage of the fluorescent lamp with the similar type of amalgam by controlling a distance between the amalgam and the respective filament.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2010Publication date: April 19, 2012Inventor: Qin Kong

Patent number: 7459862Abstract: A high efficiency electronic ballast for large power metal halide lamp includes a power input circuit, a power factor correction circuit, a secondary power supply, a control circuit, a half bridge power converter, a resonant starting circuit, and lamp current on/off detector. The half bridge power converter has two DC block output capacitor to protect the converter when the output is shorted to ground. The operation frequency of the converter is chosen in the weak area of the acoustic resonant to avoid the acoustic resonant in the lamp. The control circuit adds a method for deep frequency and amplitude modulation and delay control function to the converter. For fine sweep pass through the output resonance point for igniting high voltage, two sweep rate control circuits are added. The metal halide lamp can be operated with very stable from starting to normal operation with high electronic ballast system efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2007Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: Fujian Juan Kuang Yaming Electric LimitedInventors: Heping Chen, Min Chen, Qin Kong, Wenxiong Zhang

Patent number: 5757142Abstract: An electronic drive for fluorescent lamps that includes a feedback loop arrangement where a lumen or intensity setting is compared to the lamp current and the frequency of an inverter is changed to bring the lumen output of the lamp to a level that matches the setting. The bandwidth of the feedback loop is great enough such that the time delay around the feedback loop is faster than prior art designs, and is preferably about 50 microseconds. This fast feedback loop provides the advantage that fluorescent lamps, and especially the more non-linear fluorescent lamps, can to be dimmed down to 10-30% of normal full scale lumen output without extinguishing. The faster feedback loop also prevents flicker when as the lamp is dimmed.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1996Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Inventor: Qin Kong
