Abstract: An optical receiver comprising a frontend configured to receive an optical signal and convert the optical signal into a plurality of digital electrical signals comprising a plurality of spectrally shaped subcarrier signals carrying symbol mapped data information, and a digital signal processor (DSP) unit coupled to the frontend and configured to receive the digital signals from the frontend, demulitplex the digital signals into the subcarrier signals, and compensate chromatic dispersion (CD) for each of the subcarrier signals by applying an equalizer, wherein each of the subcarrier signals is associated with a unique tone frequency and a unique spectral shape. Also disclosed is an optical transmitter comprising a digital signal processor (DSP) unit configured to map data symbols onto a plurality of electrical subcarrier signals that are non-overlapping and spectrally shaped in a frequency domain.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing mobile applications at a predetermined data rate. In an embodiment, a request for a campaign is received, the request including an application title, an access endpoint, a campaign duration, and a list of a plurality of communication network operators. In response to receiving the request for the campaign, a special rating request is sent to each communications network operator on the list. The special rating request requests that a predetermined data rate be applied to data associated with the access endpoint for the campaign period. The data associated with the access endpoint is made available at the predetermined data rate on a communications network. Furthermore, advertising may be provided that communicates that the application is available for download and for use on the communications network at the predetermined data rate.

Abstract: The invention relates to a lighting device comprising: an optical reflector (200, 500) which has an interior surface (201); and a light source (205, 505); wherein the interior surface has a plurality of facets (203) that form a Fresnel structure-like reflecting surface (202), and the interior surface may further have a cone (504) so as to avoid light from the light source being reflected back to the light source; wherein at least part of the light from the light resource is reflected by the optical reflector into an output direction. Abstract: Computing systems and methods for facilitating automatic generation and maintenance of an online scrapbook are provided. The online scrapbook may be a repository of ticketed-event information and associated photos, comments or other mementos associated with the ticketed events. The scrapbook may include a timeline of future and past purchased-ticket events and associated links for inviting others to future events, reselling tickets to future events, sharing events with others through social networking, displaying photos of past events, or commenting on past or future events. Events for the webpage may be identified through a user account on a ticket server or by scraping a user's email account for event-related emails. The photos may be gathered from social networking sites associated with the user and sorted by event based on the time, location, or content of the photo.

Abstract: Computing systems and methods for automatically providing event-related notifications to users are provided. Purchased-ticket events can be identified by scraping user emails. Ticket information such as dates and locations of events can also be gathered. User friends such as contacts in the user's social networks that have purchased tickets for the identified events may be identified. For future events, the user can be notified of friends that are attending the event, event-related vendor offers, ticket resale alerts, and event-time alerts. For past events, the user can be notified of shared comments or photos from friends or others. Consumers in a common geographical area with the user that have purchased tickets for the same events can also be identified. The user can be notified of identified neighbors attending the event or a community chat webpagc for the event can be provided.

Abstract: A portable tennis apparatus comprising a tennis bag, a tennis ball retrieving unit, a stretchable back bar and an extendable bottom stand. The ball retrieving unit retrieves balls on the ground directly to the bag; the stretchable back bar can be pulled up and pushed around with rolling means on the ground easily. The top opening of the bag made it easy to reach the balls for replay. The extendable stand can raise the tennis bag at a desirable level for dispensing balls so that the player does not have to bend down. The stretchable back bar and the stand can be put back to their original position during the transportation of the apparatus, such as between tennis court and player's home. The entire apparatus is light-weighted, easily carried and operated single-handed. This apparatus is truly an “all-in-one” tennis apparatus, and a revolution in the field of tennis equipment.

Abstract: A method and system to automatically add events to a user's electronic calendar are described. The system may detect that a user has an interest in a particular event by examining user activity outside of an electronic calendar. The system may then automatically, or upon request by the user, add the event to the user's calendar. Additional embodiments are described having various levels of automation in the detection of the user's interest and adding of the event to the user's electronic calendar.

Historical data across a plurality of data sources in the IT infrastructure is analyzed. An opportunity to reduce the frequency at which the IT infrastructure automatically generates the alerts is identified. A new alert policy addressing the opportunity to reduce alert frequency is generated. An impact of the new alert policy on a set of predefined service level objectives (SLOs) and service level agreements (SLAs) is evaluated. The new alert policy is deployed in the IT infrastructure.

Abstract: High-speed programs review is described. In embodiment(s), a television client device can initiate a high-speed review of a group of programs that have been recorded together. A content distributor may record a group of television programs that have been previously broadcast for a particular television channel, and then maintain the programs for on-demand viewing when selected by a viewer. The client device can receive program information from the content distributor, and the program information can identify each of the progress when reviewing the group of programs at high-speed. The program information that corresponds to a program can then be rendered for display when the program becomes selectable for on-demand viewing while reviewing the programs at high-speed.
