  • Patent number: 9236807
Abstract: A DC/DC converter, a power converter and a control method thereof are disclosed, where the DC/DC converter includes an output circuit, a rectangular wave generator, a resonant tank, a detection unit and a control unit. The output circuit has a load. The rectangular wave generator converts an input voltage into at least one rectangular wave. The resonant tank provides a first voltage based on the rectangular wave for the output circuit. The detection unit detects a signal related to a state of the load. When the state of the load is light-load or a no-load, the control unit controls a working frequency or a duty ratio of the rectangular wave, so that the duty ratio of the rectangular wave is within a predetermined range, in which a voltage gain of the DC/DC converter is greater than another voltage gain under the condition of 50% duty ratio.

  • Publication number: 20150378502
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a touch-screen device is provided herein. During operation UI elements are arranged and re-arrange dynamically and based on user's current contact locations on the touch screen. Preferably, the contact positions correspond to a user's finger positions so that the UI elements are automatically placed where a person's fingers make contact with the touch screen. Because the UI elements on the touch screen always “look for” the user's fingers, instead of the user looking for them, it becomes much easier and more time-efficient for a user to find a particular UI element.

  • Patent number: 9036674
Abstract: A third-order distributed feedback laser has an active medium disposed on a substrate as a linear array of segments having a series of periodically spaced interstices therebetween and a first conductive layer disposed on a surface of the active medium on each of the segments and along a strip from each of the segments to a conductive electrical contact pad for application of current along a path including the active medium. Upon application of a current through the active medium, the active medium functions as an optical waveguide, and there is established an alternating electric field, at a THz frequency, both in the active medium and emerging from the interstices. Spacing of adjacent segments is approximately half of a wavelength of the THz frequency in free space or an odd integral multiple thereof, so that the linear array has a coherence length greater than the length of the linear array.

  • Publication number: 20150130723
Abstract: In a first step of a content selection operation, content can be selected by detecting a freeform trajectory of one or more content selection objects with respect to a computing device. The selection area can be calculated based on the maximum area covered by the trajectory of movement that is detected. The selection area can be limited to the area bounded by the start selection point and ending release point. The content within the selection area can be selected. The “roughly selected” content can be copied into a second display area. All or part of the roughly selected content can be enlarged, enabling precise selection of content in a second selection operation.

  • Publication number: 20140292754
Abstract: A method, system, and computer readable storage medium/computer program product provide the ability to select an object in a three-dimensional (3D) scene. A 3D scene is displayed and consists of a first object that is displayed in the foreground and a second object that is occluded or partially occluded by the first object. An object selection option is activated. A transparency threshold value is defined for the first object. A location in the displayed 3D scene is selected. Such a location is located on a portion of the first object that occludes the second object. Based on the transparency threshold value and the location, either the first object or the second object is selected and displayed in a visually distinguishable manner.

  • Publication number: 20140008553
Abstract: The present invention provides frequency tunable solid-state radiation-generating devices, such as lasers and amplifiers, whose active medium has a size in at least one transverse dimension (e.g., its width) that is much smaller than the wavelength of radiation generated and/or amplified within the active medium. In such devices, a fraction of radiation travels as an evanescent propagating mode outside the active medium. It has been discovered that in such devices the radiation frequency can be tuned by the interaction of a tuning mechanism with the propagating evanescent mode.

  • Publication number: 20130176005
Abstract: The DC/DC converter includes a power unit, an output detection unit, a control unit and a compensation unit. The output detection unit detects an output stage of the power unit. The control unit provides a driving signal based on the output stage for the power unit to control the operation of the power unit. When the power unit operates in an intermittent working mode, the compensation unit provides a compensation signal for the control unit, and the control unit adjusts the driving signal according to the compensation signal, so that during at least one duty cycle an output power of the power unit in the intermittent working mode is higher than an output power of the power unit at a switching moment from a normal mode (continuous working mode) to the intermittent working mode, thereby when the load is not changed, the average number of driving signals is reduced.
