Abstract: A multi-module application has a main module that generates a homepage user interface in a window for accessing a number of function modules of the application. Upon startup of the application, the main module parses a startup xml file that stores information about the function modules and generates the homepage user interface. When a user selects a function provided by a function module, the main module runs the function module and switches from the homepage user interface to a user interface of the function module in the same window. The user may return to the homepage from the function module by selecting a homepage button in the user interface of the function module. When a function module is added or removed from the application, an installer or uninstaller program updates the startup xml file by adding or removing information about the function module.

Abstract: An electronic program guide includes a first program listing for a single start time and a second program listing for a television station identified in the first program listing. The first program listing displays a time of the start time, a first list of television stations and titles of television programs corresponding to the television stations, and a cursor visually identifying one of the television stations and one of the television programs in the first list. The second program listing displays the identified television station and a second list of start times and titles of television programs corresponding to the start times.

Abstract: A method for video editing software to display a preview of a video in real-time includes (a) retrieving one or more frames to be displayed at a current time into a system RAM of a computer; (b) applying one or more effects to the one or more frames to form a new frame; (c) displaying the new frame on a monitor without saving the new frame on a storage medium of the computer; and (d) repeating the actions (a) to (c) for subsequent times. The method may include reducing the resolution of the one or more frames after retrieving the one or more frames. The displaying of the new frame on a screen may include using a multimedia programming interface, such as DirectX, to copy the new frame in the system RAM to a RAM of a display card of the computer and using the multimedia programming interface to refresh the display card to display on a monitor the new frame.

Abstract: A system and process for real-time rendering of video images. A computer processes a set of video clips, images, and stills and simultaneously displays them on a screen. At any given time, a program processes the set along with transition and special effect frames and displays them to an observer.
