Patent number: 10556252Abstract: An electronic device includes an enclosure, a display positioned with the enclosure and defining a front face of the electronic device, and a haptic actuator positioned within the enclosure. The haptic actuator includes a housing comprising a wall and a movable mass positioned within the housing and configured to move within the housing to cause the haptic actuator to produce a vibrational response. The vibrational response includes a first component within a frequency range and a second component outside of the frequency range and providing a haptic output portion of the vibrational response. The haptic actuator also includes a tuning feature incorporated with the wall and configured to reduce the first component of the vibrational response while substantially maintaining the haptic output portion of the vibrational response.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2017Date of Patent: February 11, 2020Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Lok Pui Calvin Tsang, Yu Chen, Qingguo Zhao, Weiqiang Fu, Hong Feng Wang, Chung Yin Au

Patent number: 10351825Abstract: A method of producing mesenchymal stem cells from induced pluripotent stem cells in which induced pluripotent stem cells are cultured in the presence of a TGF-? inhibitor an in an atmosphere containing from about 7 vol. % to about 8 vol. % CO2 for a period of time from about 20 day to about 35 days. The cells then are transferred to a culture dish having a hydrophilic surface, and the cells are cultured in a medium containing a TGF-? inhibitor for a period of time sufficient to produce mesenchymal stem cells. Such mesenchymal stem cells are more stable and less likely to form tumors, cancers, or teratomas. Also, the induced pluripotent stem cells may be genetically engineered with at least one polynucleotide encoding a therapeutic agent and then are cultured as hereinabove described to provide genetically engineered mesenchymal stem cells that express sustained amounts of a biologically active protein or polypeptide.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2015Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignees: The Texas A&M University System, Temple Therapeutics, Inc.Inventors: Darwin J. Prockop, Fei Liu, Qingguo Zhao, Barry A. Berkowitz

Patent number: 9879278Abstract: The invention includes compositions and methods for the selective expression of a target gene in a subset of cells. In certain embodiments, the present invention includes a construct comprising a first nucleic acid sequence comprising an episomal maintenance element and a second nucleic acid sequence comprising a target gene wherein the expression of the episomal maintenance element is regulated by a constitutive promoter and the expression of the target gene is regulated by a non-constitutive promoter. The construct is able to maintain episomal state, no matter whether the target gene is expressed in the cell.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2013Date of Patent: January 30, 2018Assignee: Wake Forest University Health SciencesInventors: Baisong Lu, Qingguo Zhao, James Yoo, Anthony Atala

Patent number: 7819648Abstract: The present invention provides an outer frame for cubic hinge press and the cubic hinge press with this outer frame, said outer frame encloses an accommodation space; The supporting planes used for supporting and fixing the back cover plates of hinge sleeve cylinder are set around the inner walls of the outer frame and on the inner walls of upper and lower surfaces of outer frame; A window for the assembly, disassembly and maintenance of press is correspondingly set between two adjacent supporting planes on the outer frame. According to different needs, the outer frame may be designed as square frame, butterfly frame, basket type frame or spherical frame. The hinge press formed by connecting six hinge sleeve piston components through reinforcing plate or through hinge ears and pins is installed in the accommodation space enclosed by the outer frame, thus forming a cubic hinge press.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2007Date of Patent: October 26, 2010Assignee: Zhengzhou Synthetic Diamond and Related Products Engineering Technology Research CenterInventors: Jinzhong Yang, Liuxi Guo, Qingguo Zhao
