  • Patent number: 10196616
Abstract: An altered avian NDV that contains the coding sequence of avian interleukin-4 (IL-4), or a portion thereof, in the reverse orientation suppresses in-ovo IL-4 production via RNAi when administered to embryonic birds. An immunogenic composition containing this altered NDV is included in this invention. The altered avian NDV can, optionally contain a polynucleotide encoding a heterologous antigen from a heterologous avian pathogen and can produce said heterologous antigen in-ovo.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 7, 2018
Date of Patent: February 5, 2019
Assignees: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of Agriculture, University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc.
Inventors: Claudio L. Afonso, Valerie C. Marcano, Nany Stivalis Cardenas Garcia, Qingzhong Yu, Tonya L. Taylor

  • Patent number: 5789229
Abstract: Recombinant methods for recovering wildtype or engineered negative stranded, non-segmented RNA virus genomes containing non-coding 3' and 5' regions (e.g. leader or trailer regions) surrounding one, several or all of the genes of the virus or one or more heterologous gene(s) in the form of ribonucleocapsids containing N, P and L proteins, which are capable of replicating and assembling with the remaining structural proteins to bud and form virions, or which are only capable of infecting one cell, or are transcribing particles, are disclosed. Novel vaccines, gene therapy vectors and antiviral compounds based on these viral particles are also disclosed.
