  • Patent number: 8179054
Abstract: An LED power supply (LPS) (10) that is designed to replace conventional fluorescent lamps, which also include Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs). The LPS (10) is comprised of three major elements: a power input circuit (PIC) (12), an LED Power Control Circuit (LPCC) (14) and an LED load 16. The PIC (12) can consist of either a d-c voltage source (12A) or an a-c voltage source (12B). The a-c voltage source (12B) is rectified and filtered to produce a filtered d-c voltage output (11?) prior to being applied to an OR gate (12D) from where a filtered d-c voltage (21) is produced and applied to the LPCC (14) for further processing. The CPCC (14) functions to automatically monitor and adjust both the voltage and the current that is applied to a plurality of LEDS 71 that comprise the LED load 16. The LED load is typically configured in a series-parallel configuration.

  • Patent number: 7825607
Abstract: A d-c to d-c converter circuit (DDCC) (10) that is comprised of a passive thin-film hybrid circuit that includes an input circuit (12), a voltage regulator circuit (14), a comparator circuit (16), an oscillator circuit (18) and an output circuit (20). The input circuit (12) is applied an input d-c voltage (11) from the vehicle's battery circuit (50). The input voltage (11) is converted by the DDCC (10) into an output d-c voltage (23) that is suitable to operate a set of LED tail lamps and/or a set of LED turn-signal lamps. The DDCC (10) is designed to replace a prior art heat-producing, voltage dropping resistive element (Rx) that drops the battery voltage to a suitable level to operate the LEDs. Additionally, the DDCC (10) is easily spliced into the vehicle's electrical wiring cable (54), requires a small mounting space and produces no significant heat.

  • Patent number: 7390115
Abstract: An LED blinker load assembly (LBLA) (10) that can be integrated into the envelope of an LED light bulb or be attached externally to a rear, front or side LED lamp assembly. The LBLA (10) is comprised of an input circuit (12) and an output circuit (14). The two circuits in combination produce a sufficient current flow to operate an LED load circuit (18) and to cause a conventional vehicle flasher unit (60) to be operated normally.

  • Patent number: 7382241
Abstract: A vehicle LED tail-light bulb (10) that is designed to replace an incandescent light bulb, to be inserted into a conventional right and left vehicle light socket and to function in combination with a vehicle battery that powers the bulb (10) and a flasher unit that is activated by a vehicle turn-signal arm. The LED tail-light bulb incorporates an electronics circuit consisting of an input circuit (12), an intermediate circuit (14) and an output circuit (16). The electronics circuit is designed to operate the left and right turn lights and in some cases an emergency light and to produce a current flow of sufficient magnitude to energize the vehicle flasher unit. The energized flasher unit then causes the bulb (10) to blink when the vehicle turn-signal arm is placed in either a right turn or a left turn position.

  • Patent number: 7339465
Abstract: A vehicle-to-trailer light-connection verification tester (10) designed to be located within a towing vehicle (20), a towed trailer (30) or within a cable adapter (24) that is connected between the vehicle (20) and the trailer (30). The tester (10) features an electronics circuit (12) that includes a plug (P1), a receptacle (J2), a three-position mode switch (S1), a plurality of isolation diodes (D1-D4), and a loudspeaker (LS1). The mode switch (S1) has a vehicle test position V, a trailer test position T, and a normal lighting position N. When the switch (S1) is in the vehicle test position the rear vehicle lights are tested and when the switch (S1) is in the trailer test position (T) the rear trailer lights are tested. If each light in either the vehicle (20) or the trailer (30) is operational the loudspeaker (LS1) produces an audible sound. Conversely, if a particular light is not functioning no sound is heard.

  • Patent number: 7001053
Abstract: A rotary motion powered system for energizing light emitting diodes is taught that utilizes a permanent magnet generator (20) located within a vehicle wheel (64) for producing the requisite electric power. The generator consists of two main elements: a rotating portion (26) and a stationary portion (28). The rotating portion utilizes a base (30) that is attached directly to an adapter base (72) attached to the vehicle wheel, and the stationary portion includes a counter weight (62), thus permitting this portion to remain horizontal when the wheel is rotating. An ac/dc bridge rectifier (22) is in electrical communication with the generator output to change the alternating current produced by the permanent magnet generator to direct current. A number of light emitting diodes are disposed within a vehicle wheel member and are powered by the direct current power, thereby producing an unusual and unique visual effect when the wheel is rotating.
