    Abstract: A method of separating lignin from black liquor from a pulp mill by adjusting the pH of the black liquor is provided. Various additional steps can be used to further process the separated lignin, including washing, drying, and/or comminuting. In certain embodiments, solvents and byproducts are recycled so as to reduce waste and maintain chemical balance within a commercial lignin production facility.
