    Abstract: The concept of a service layer message template is introduced, which may be a request template or a response template. Message templates may be created and stored at the service layer. Each message template may contain a set of request or response parameters and their values. Once in place, an application can send a request to the service layer that does not include the request parameters contained in the message template (i.e. request template); instead, a message template identifier may be sent. Since request parameters are included in the message template and stored at the service layer, communication overhead between the service layer and the application (or another service layer) may be reduced.

    Abstract: A CoAP resource directory discovers, and creates a map of, autonomic nodes that meet certain security criteria for joining an autonomic control plane. The resource directory shares the map and/or neighbor relationships with the mapped nodes. The mapped nodes interact with the RD and with each other via the autonomic control plane to perform autonomic node and network self-management functions, such as self-configuration, self-protection, self-healing, and self-optimization. In addition, a CoAP option allows the autonomic control plane to be used for alternative routing of critical messages. The autonomic control plane may be observed and adjusted using a graphical user interface.

    Abstract: The present application is directed to a computer-implemented device for reserving a path in a network. The device includes a non-transitory memory operably coupled to a processor. The processor is configured to perform the instruction of sending a path computation request to a backbone router via a routing protocol path. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of receiving a computation reply from the backbone router path based upon the request. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of assigning a soft cell on the path between the source and the destination device. The application is also directed to a computer-implemented device for reserving a path between a source device and destination device.
