Abstract: A locking mechanism which is mountable in a door assembly including a door and a frame. The locking mechanism includes a latch belt assembly, a drive motor and a cam assembly connected to the latch bolt assembly and the drive motor by a linkage assembly. The cam assembly is driven by the motor and provides a mechanical advantage in operating the linkage assembly and the connected latch bolt. The lock mechanism includes a mechanical latch back feature which retains the latch bolt in a retracted position until the door is closed relative to the frame. Also included are switches coupled to the motor for use in controlling the motor based on the position of the cam.

Abstract: A safety swivel chair with a child restraint device comprises a pedestal formed with a circular opening bordered by a lip. A substantially circular disk-shaped base is formed with a peripheral groove around its edge which receives the lip of the pedestal therein to pivotally engage the base to the pedestal. The base includes a pivot plate with a peripheral projection positioned to cover the opening with the projection slidingly supported on the lip, an anchor plate having a peripheral extension being positioned across the opening opposite the pivot plate with the lip between the extension and the projection, and means for holding the anchor plate in a fixed relationship with the pivot plate to establish the groove between the extension and the projection. A plurality of ball bearings are operatively mounted between the lip and the projection for pivotably supporting the projection on the pivot plate.

Abstract: A swiveling infant car seat with an infant restraint device comprises a pedestal formed with a circular opening bordered by a lip to which a base is connected for distribution loads therebetween. A substantially circular base for a seat is formed with a groove around the periphery of an annulus which receives the inner periphery of the anchor plate therein to the seat to the pedestal. The base includes a pivot plate, an anchor plate, and a retainer plate for holding the pivot plate in swiveling relationship with the anchor plate. The seat is reclinably attached to the base for orientation at select inclinations, and a latch mounted on the pedestal is engageable with the base to selectively hold the seat in either a forward facing or a rearward facing orientation.

Abstract: An adjustable child restraint car seat comprises a base which can be attached to the seat of a vehicle by the vehicles lap belts. A seat having a reclinable back portion is latch locked onto a pivot which is swivel mounted on the base. A first adjustable means for holding the reclinable back in fixed relation to the seat portion and a second adjustable means for holding the pivot in fixed relation to the base allow reconfiguration of the child restraint car seat as required.
