Patent number: 11899677Abstract: Systems and methods that are adapted for automatic curation of query responses are disclosed herein. An example method includes obtaining user action metrics corresponding to responses provided in reply to a query for a target resource, the query having a search term, determining a portion of the responses having user action metrics with statistical significance, generating a list of curated responses based on the portion of the responses, and providing the curated responses in reply queries having the search term.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2021Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: Elasticsearch B.V.Inventors: Quinlan J. Hoxie, Matthew T. Riley

Publication number: 20230046298Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for automatic search query refinement. An example method commences with identifying a plurality of electronic sources of data content of an entity stored at different network-accessible locations. The content may be dynamically assigned fields based on criteria specified by the entity. Thereupon, a unified search interface may be provided to authorized users to search the content. A search query subsequently received from a user may be parsed. The method continues with determining, upon the parsing and based on predetermined rules, triggers associated with the search query. In some embodiments, the triggers include search triggers to be used for searching content, filter triggers to be applied for filtering search results, and structural triggers to be used for ranking the search results. The method further includes searching the content based on the triggers to retrieve the search results and providing the search results to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2022Publication date: February 16, 2023Applicant: Elasticsearch B.V.Inventors: Quinlan J. Hoxie, David Harsha, Mark Hoy, Sean Story, Brian Stevenson, Marshall Scorcio

Publication number: 20220350849Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for controlling precision of searches. An example method includes receiving, via a user interface associated with a search engine, user input indicating a search precision level, and setting, based on the search precision level, parameters of the search engine to cause the search engine to return, in a response to a search query, search results having the search precision level. The method includes collecting statistical data including a value of the search precision level, a number of executions of the search query by the search adjusted based on the value of the search precision level, and a number of user reactions to results of the executions of the search query. The method includes determining, based on the statistical data, an optimal value of the search precision level for the search query.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2021Publication date: November 3, 2022Inventors: Quinlan J. Hoxie, Nick Chow, Aurelien Foucret

Patent number: 10579693Abstract: Automatically creating and modifying a search engine for a website. User input may be received specifying an address of a website. A search engine may be automatically created for the website based on the user input. Webpages of the website may specify a plurality of tags specifying custom attributes of the webpages. During creation of the search engine, these custom attributes may be incorporated into the search engine index. Additional user input may be received customizing the search engine for various search engine contexts, e.g., based on the custom attributes of the webpages. Search engine results for the website may be based on various ranking functions, potentially including social impact of webpages of the website.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2018Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: Elasticsearch B.V.Inventors: Matthew T. Riley, Quinlan J. Hoxie

Publication number: 20190384798Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically creating and modifying a search engine for a website are provided. User input may be received specifying an address of a particular website and in response, a search engine may be automatically created for the website. Webpages of the website may specify a plurality of tags specifying custom attributes of the webpages. During creation of the search engine, these custom attributes may be incorporated into the search engine index. Search engine results for the website may be based on various ranking functions, potentially including a social impact of webpages of the website. User input may be received via a user interface for customizing the search engine for various search engine contexts, e.g., based on custom attributes of the webpages. The user interface may receive weights from the user to apply to ranking factors of the ranking function for further customizing the search engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2019Publication date: December 19, 2019Inventors: Matthew T.
