  • Patent number: 6793564
Abstract: The rotary tool for producing profiles or cuts in hard fragile materials such as marble, granite, stone, glass and the like comprises at least one rotationally symmetrical body (1, 2) involving a configuration defined by the envelope of a multiplicity of circular parts (6-13) externally provided with diamond means. The circular parts are separated by grooves (20 to 25) and the configuration corresponds as a negative of profiles or cuts to be produced in the above-mentioned hard fragile materials, the arrangement being such that the production of profiles or cuts is effected jointly by abrasion on the part of the diamond means and by fragile-fracture breaking on the part of the grooves, and possible breaker inserts (30) with a metal pin which is hard or covered with industrial diamond.

  • Patent number: 6371103
Abstract: The system of modular elements comprises a plurality of disc elements (11, 12 . . . ) with diamond outer rings (11a, 12a . . . ) for assembling on a single drive spindle with a spacing approximately equal to their thickness; mechanical fragmenting means (19, 20, 21, 22 . . . ) being provided in the spaces between the disc elements to operate essentially by impact, in contrast to the abrasive action of the diamond outer ring of the said disc elements; which disc elements have different diameters forming a broken line that corresponds substantially to the outline of the profile or shaping to be produced on marble, stone or the like; the arrangement being such that the disc elements (11, 12 . . . ) cut grooves by diamond abrasion and the mechanical fragmenting means (19, 20, 21, 22 . . . ) shatter the parts projecting from the grooves with an action of fragmentation by impact and by brittle fracture.

  • Patent number: 6068547
Abstract: A system for the profile machining of slabs (23) of marble, stone, glass and the like, using templates (31), comprises a plurality of mechanically adjustable pneumatically operating distance pieces or supporting blocks (1). Each distance piece or supporting block is adjustable for height by means of a screw (8) and nut (6) arrangement and is provided with suction seals (11) on its end surface to support the slab, (15, 16) on an annular step to fix the machining template, and (3) on its base to fix the assembly of slab and distance piece firmly to the workbench, as the slab is being machined. All the suction seals (3, 11, 15, 16) are connected to suction tubes (24) that terminate in a connecting nipple that is connected to a pneumatic vacuum source.

  • Patent number: 6062962
Abstract: The bench for machining elongate objects such as strips of marble and the like comprises a generally boxlike body having a surface over which a portable profiling machine can be moved and a side comprising means for holding elongate objects or strips or the like in position by means of a plurality of pneumatic suction inlets which, by the action of low pressure, hold the elongate object stably during its machining.

  • Patent number: 5655958
Abstract: The elastic base grinding wheel for the smoothing and polishing of toroidal contours of hard material comprises a rigid-material support body, which may also be divided into two parts along an equatorial plane in a substantially centered position, has an internal shape suitable for mating operatively with the motor shaft with which it is coupled, and an external shape congruent with that of the contour of the material to be smoothed or polished. At least, a wing at or the end of the support body, is arranged for receiving and holding a coating of elastomeric material injected or vulcanized in situ. The part of the injected coating of elastomeric material directed towards the workpiece is coated with elements of relatively flexible abrasive material, so that the overall contour corresponds to the final shape that must have the workpiece after the smoothing or polishing.

  • Patent number: 5595170
Abstract: A portable machine for performing cuts, particularly rectilinear or curvilinear cuts, in stone, marble, granite and the like. The machine comprises a supporting member arranged for movement over the top surface of stone or the like. A frame is connected to the supporting member through a connecting block. The frame supports motor means and transmission means for driving a cutting tool. A handle is provided for moving the machine over the surface of stone or the like. The machine comprises means for adjusting the sinking of the cutting tool into the stone. The supporting member being provided on the surface towards the stone with a plurality of rolling-ball bearings, allowing for the free movement of the supporting member. The frame and cutting tool are free to follow a rectilinear or curvilinear path. The connecting block cooperates with the coupling means for allowing a free rotation of the frame with respect to the supporting member.

  • Patent number: 5476410
Abstract: A shaped diamond wheel, at certain height, determined by both the type of grinding wheel which is being used and the working stage, is provided with a rotating feeling pin, consisting of a metal element a few millimeters high which projects for few hundreths at a millimeters with regard to the shape of grinding wheel. The rotating feeling pin does not interfere with the working of stone, with the exception of very small portion of stone (3) with come into contact with the rotating feeling pin.
