Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses can operate to provide user directed third party video content. In some implementations, a first segment of third party video content is provided to a user device for display to the user, and a request is received from the user to skip the first segment of third party video content. A second segment of third party video content is retrieved and provided to the user device for display to the user.

Abstract: Various methods, systems, and apparatuses can be used to perform metered and conditional access control. In some implementations, a metered and conditional access control system can operate to approve, deny, or meter a request from a requesting user device for transactions such as, for example, approval of purchases, requests for bandwidth, access to restricted content, among many others. Once prompted, a granting user device can grant, deny, or meter directly with the requesting user device or another network element. A metered and conditional access control system can also coordinate with a metered conditional access control coordinating device to facilitate conditional access and/or metering.

Abstract: One or more logical domains may be utilized for partitioning and reorganizing a single physical domain or a search space constituted by a plurality of physical domains. Logical domains include at least one page selected from the plurality of pages in the physical domain. Responsive to a request for information, each logical domain may be ranked according to subject matter relevance to the information requested. Definition and relevance ranking of logical domains enables Web site mapping which supports multi-granularity and content-sensitivity in response to a request for information. A multi-granular site map presents users with differing levels of detail, from a general overview of site topology to detailed views of specific areas of the map. A topic-focused site map presents users with a general view of site topology with a detailed view of an area of the site which contains information of interest.

Abstract: The present invention provides a hypermedia database for managing bookmarks, which allows a user to organize hypertext documents for querying, navigating, sharing and viewing. In addition, the hypermedia database also provides access control to the information in the database. The hypermedia database of the present invention parses meta-data from bookmarked documents and indexes and classifies the documents. The present invention supports advanced query and navigation of a collection of bookmarks, especially providing various personalized bookmark services. In one embodiment, the present invention utilizes a proxy server to observe a user's access patterns to provide useful personalized services, such as automated URL bookmarking, document refresh, and bookmark expiration. In addition, a user may also specify various preference in bookmark management, e.g., ranking schemes (i.e. by referral, access frequency, or popularity) and navigation tree fan-out.

Abstract: A method for constructing and maintaining a navigation tree based on external document classifiers is provided. In one embodiment, based on the returned category labels from the classifiers, a navigation tree is constructed by taking usability and user preferences into consideration. Control parameters and algorithms are provided for inserting into and deleting documents from the navigation tree, and for splitting and merging nodes of the navigation tree, are provided.

Abstract: A method for discovering association rules in a database that employs item constraints for extracting desired data relationships from a data base, thereby reducing the execution time of the rule discovery process and increasing the quality of the information returned. Such constraints allow users to specify the subset of rules in which the users are interested. Given a set of transactions D and constraints represented by a boolean expression .beta., the invention integrates the constraints into a selected rule discovery method rather than implementing the constraints as a post-processing step. The invention quickly discovers association rules that satisfy .beta. and have support and confidence levels greater than or equal to user-specified minimum support and minimum confidence levels, and may be implemented even when a taxonomy is present.
