Abstract: The backpack with inflatable cushions comprises a backpack, inflatable shoulder pads, and an inflatable lumbar support. The backpack may be adapted to be worn on a user's back, supported by a pair of shoulder straps, and may be operable to carry items within the backpack. Non-limiting examples of the items that may be carried within the backpack comprise school supplies, camping gear, sports equipment, and a change of clothing. The inflatable shoulder pads may be adapted to distribute the weight of the pair of shoulder straps over a larger area of a user's shoulders when the inflatable shoulder pads are inflated with air. The inflatable lumbar support may be adapted to fill the space between a user's lower back and the bottom of the backpack when inflated, thus promoting good posture and reducing back pain.
