  • Patent number: 9430450
Abstract: A method of scaling font size on a user interface of a mobile communication device. The method comprises presenting a message in a first font size on a display of the mobile communication device, and after a predefined delay of time, presenting the message in a second font size on the display of the mobile communication device, where the second font size is larger than the first font size. The method further comprises receiving a selection of a font size and, based on the font size selection, determining and presenting an altered flow of screens and icons automatically in the user interface of the mobile communication device with the selected font size.

  • Patent number: 8533605
Abstract: A portable electronic device is provided comprising a processor, a memory, a loading application stored in the memory that accesses loading criteria for a first, second, and third ID wherein the criteria comprise measures of relative importance applied to variables associated with each of the IDs and wherein the IDs comprise at least one of an application, a media file, and a widget. The system determines a current value of at least one variable wherein variables comprise at least one of day of the week, time of day, and geographic location of the device and additionally comprise a first, a second, and a third event status associated with the first, second, and third ID, respectively. The system applies the criteria to the current values of the variables to determine a composite loading factor for each of the IDs and loads one of the IDs based on the factor.

  • Patent number: 8244672
Abstract: A method and system for establishing an application contact list is provided. A user will establish a master contact list on a client station. In response to execution of an application using a contact entry from the master contact list, the client station will then designate the contact entry as a member that is associated with the executed application. In this manner, the client station will mark contacts based on the applications that used the contacts. In addition, the client station generates application contact lists by filtering the master contact list to identify contact entries that are associated with an initiated or executed application. The client station then generates an application contact list including the contact entries that are associated with the application. The user may then select a contact entry from the application contact list for use in execution of the application.

  • Publication number: 20100229100
Abstract: In a communication device, multiple instances of different applications may execute. Advantageously, at least one instance of an application records and stores a browsing history of data items accessed during its execution. This stored browsing history may be made available to later instances of applications. Furthermore, one or more such stored histories may be accessed via a global back or a global forward command, allowing the histories to be browsed according to the order in which they were recorded.

  • Patent number: 7437772
Abstract: A method and system provides for restricting access to particular network content. In one embodiment, a gateway can receive, from a client device, a content request that includes a rating-allowance for the requested content. The gateway can also receive, from a content provider, a content-rating for the requested content. The gateway can then compare the content-rating to the rating-allowance and, in response, either allow or block the delivery of that content to the client device.

  • Patent number: 7188320
Abstract: A mobile station that includes a display, data storage, and a processor. A menu display routine stored in the data storage can be executed by the processor to display a set of menus ranging from a first menu to a last menu. Menus can include menu items ranging from first to last items. The mobile station may also include a “point of focus” routine and a navigation routine stored in the data storage, both routines executable by the processor. When the point of focus is on a particular menu (other than the last menu), user invocation of the navigation routine causes the processor to move the point of focus to a menu other than the particular menu. When the point of focus is on the last menu, user invocation of the navigation routine causes the processor to move the point of focus to a menu item within the last menu.
