  • Patent number: 8393686
Abstract: A vehicle includes a vehicle chassis, a load support body connected to the chassis and movable between a lowered position and a raised position, and a hoist operable to forcibly move the load support body from the lowered position to the raised position. The hoist includes a cylinder and a pressurized drive fluid supply system. The cylinder includes a housing assembly and a shaft assembly. The housing assembly defines first and second cylinder chambers separated by a center cap. The shaft assembly is slidably mounted in the housing assembly and includes a shaft and first and second pistons affixed to the shaft at axially spaced apart locations along the shaft. The first piston is disposed in the first cylinder chamber and the second piston is disposed in the second cylinder chamber.

  • Publication number: 20100019561
Abstract: A hoist is provided, which includes a hoist frame, a torque arm coupled to the hoist frame, and a lift arm coupled to the torque arm. The hoist also has a cylinder operatively coupled with the torque arm. The cylinder includes a cylinder shaft with multiple pistons disposed on the cylinder shaft. The multiple pistons define multiple piston chambers within the cylinder where, during operation of the hoist, the multiple pistons simultaneously operate to effect operation of the hoist.

  • Publication number: 20090189479
Abstract: A brush assembly is provided that facilitates a longer usable brush life and permits easy brush assembly replacement. The brush assembly includes an arc-shaped brush and a pivot arm, with the mounting end of the arc-shaped brush bound or otherwise mounted with respect to one end of the pivot arm. The end of the pivot arm that is not bound to the arc-shaped brush typically includes a female cylindrical slot for mating with a male shaft that is prefabricated in the motor housing, parallel to the rotor's axis. When the disclosed brush assembly is installed into an electric motor, the pivot arm slot is slidably positioned onto the shaft in the motor housing, enabling the brush assembly to pivot about the shaft on a plane that is perpendicular to the rotor's axis of rotation. A biasing spring force impels the brush assembly to pivot inward toward the rotor in the longitudinal direction of the brush, and maintains the operating end of the arc-shaped brush in contact with the rotating faces of the commutator.

  • Patent number: 4887332
Abstract: An improved stuffing horn and casing brake combination in a stuffing machine comprises a stuffing horn defining a second horn portion with second-horn-portion outer dimensions reduced in comparison to the first-horn-portion dimensions of a first horn portion. A casing brake mechanism intermittently brakes the movement of casing from the stuffing horn past a horn discharge opening by applying tension to the casing on the horn, and has a first brake portion and a second brake portion, where the brake portions have internal dimensions sized relative to the horn-portion dimensions for applying tension to casing on the horn between both brake portions and only the first horn portion, or between only the second brake portion and the first horn portion, when either the second brake portion is, or both portions are, in a braking position relative to the first horn portion.
