  • Patent number: 4168759
Abstract: An automobile including a body provided with a passenger compartment and a uniquely shaped front end section whereby the forward motion of the automobile will result in a highly effective channeling of oncoming air to the roof of the passenger compartment. An opening is provided at the forefront of the roof contiguous with the downstream end of the front air scoop, and communicating with a chamber arranged above the passenger compartment of the automobile. The chamber includes a rear exit vent. Within the chamber there is an angularly oriented impeller positioned in the direct path of the air forced through the chamber by the front air scoop whereby the impeller is driven by the forced air. The impeller is connected by a suitable mechanical coupling to a generator to provide auxiliary power for the automobile.

  • Patent number: 4156510
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an improvement in closed face type spinning reels, in particular the design and construction of such reels to provide for a high degree of miniaturization and lightness in weight, without sacrifice of operational features. A reel is disclosed which includes a generally cylindrical reel housing containing the working mechanism. A central frame, of generally cylindrical form, mounts substantially all of the working parts, and cylindrically shaped front and back reel casings are removably mounted on the central frame to completely enclose the mechanism. The rear casing mounts a thumb lever for actuating the reel mechanism during casting. An offset, hypoid type gearing arrangement is provided for the winding handle, enabling the main drive gear to be offset within the reel housing, in order to accommodate the presence, in a convenient position, of an adjustable drag control element of conventional but advantageous form.

  • Patent number: 4154413
Abstract: The disclosure herein relates to fishing reels, especially so-called closed face spinning reels, and it is directed more specifically to certain structural arrangements in closed face spinning reels, including a new pickup head casting lock; a new bayonet-type line spool mount; a simplifed housing structure; a simplified anti-reverse mechanism; and a simplified drag brake mechanism. These new structural arrangements for spinning reels tend to improve the operation thereof, to accommodate the use of inexpensive new plastic materials of construction, to simplify the manufacture of the components, and to simplify the assembly thereof in the mass production of closed face spinning reels.

  • Patent number: 4043521
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an improved casting reel for fishing in which a unique, non-line trapping level winding mechanism is incorporated into the reel structure, along with a unique clutching arrangement for releasing a line spool for free wheeling rotation independently of the drive mechanism for the spool and the level winding mechanism. The new reel structure also may include a star drag brake, clicker, and other conventional fishing reel mechanisms typically associated with reels of this general type.

  • Patent number: 3970263
Abstract: The disclosure herein relates to heavy-duty closed face spinning reels, and it is directed more specifically to several unique structural improvements in closed face spinning reels for the purposes of ruggedizing the reels for landing large fresh water fish such as catfish and carp. The new reel is of all metal construction and includes an improved ruggedized frame body and cover arrangement which houses a non-rotatable (zero drag) line spool uniquely locked therein.
