  • Patent number: 11957926
Abstract: A natural and sustainable material is derived from the nut of the tagua palm tree that may be fashioned into devices for humans and animals. A pulverized and reconstituted material is disclosed herein that is also treated with a low temperature atmospheric plasma treatment. In an embodiment, a biocompatible carrier gas is ionized to form a biocompatible atmospheric plasma stream. Material, such as nano-scale powdered hydroxyapatite, is introduced into the plasma stream, which is then applied to the natural nut material.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 11747081
Abstract: A drive system for liquefied natural gas (LNG) refrigeration compressors in a LNG liquefaction plant. Each of three refrigeration compression strings include refrigeration compressors and a multi-shaft gas turbine capable of non-synchronous operation. The multi-shaft gas turbine is operationally connected to the refrigeration compressors and is configured to drive the one or more refrigeration compressors. The multi-shaft gas turbine uses its inherent speed turndown range to start the one or more refrigeration compressors from rest, bring the one or more refrigeration compressors up to an operating rotational speed, and adjust compressor operating points to maximize efficiency of the one or more refrigeration compressors, without assistance from electrical motors with drive-through capability and variable frequency drives.

  • Publication number: 20230248988
Abstract: Aspects described herein pertain to restoring damaged portions of tooth or bone using plasma mediated deposition. In an embodiment, a biocompatible carrier gas is ionized to form a biocompatible atmospheric plasma stream. Restoration material, such as nano-scale powdered hydroxyapatite, is introduced into the plasma stream, which is then applied to a damaged portion of a bone or tooth. The restoration material is deposited on the damaged portion of the bone or tooth, thus restoring a shape and mechanical integrity of the bone or tooth.

  • Patent number: 11198629
Abstract: Systems and methods for actively treating mining wastewater, such as acid mine drainage, using a mixed culture of iron oxidizing bacteria, in a manner that results in both remediation of the water and the production of a useful end product. Exemplary systems and methods employ a reaction vessel where the bacteria can oxidize the iron in the mining wastewater for some amount of time, and a settling tank into which reacted water may be transferred and retained to permit iron oxyhydroxide contained in the water to settle as iron oxyhydroxide sludge. The iron oxyhydroxide sludge may be dried to produce iron oxyhydroxide solids that can be employed in the manufacture of a usable pigment.
