  • Publication number: 20080184850
Abstract: A device containing fragments of a failed high torque device such as hydraulic torque device, geared air driven torque machine or impact wrench. The device is a sleeve formed of a woven or web-like material that is positioned around at least a driving or socket end of the high torque device. The sleeve absorbs the impact of fragments upon failure of the high torque device, preventing the fragments from becoming airborne. The sleeve may be assembled with the high torque device during construction of the high torque device, or may be added to the high torque device at a later time. The sleeve may be retro-fit onto the high torque device. The sleeve may be pre-molded, shrink-fit, hot-dipped, slid, rolled or woven onto the high torque device.

  • Patent number: 7308898
Abstract: A bandcast tobacco sheet for use in a cigarette includes from about 5 to 15% by weight of wood pulp, from about 15 to 40% by weight of binder and from about 15 to 40% by weight of tobacco. A humectant may be included up to 30% by weight and an additive, such as menthol, may be added to up about 30% by weight. • Patent number: 7304296
Abstract: A control mechanism pins an optical fiber assembly on and off gimbal and between gimbals to route the assembly from an off-gimbal optical source across the gimbal axis/axes to an on-gimbal optical element so that the fiber assembly moves with the rotation of the gimbals. To accommodate a relatively large range of motion, the control mechanism is suitably configured to route the fiber assembly in a “U-shaped” loop with one end pinned off-gimbal in a stationary guide track and the other end pinned on-gimbal point in a rotating guide track so that the loose fiber assembly is constrained in the concentric tracks on and off gimbal. As the gimbal rotates, the loop seats onto one guiding track and peels off of the other guiding track while always maintaining its U shape.

  • Publication number: 20070215607
Abstract: An apparatus for heating a semiconductor wafer includes the following: a microwave source; an applicator cavity; and, a fixture for supporting a wafer in the applicator cavity. The fixture comprises a dielectric member providing mechanical support for the wafer and a metallic ring disposed generally parallel to and concentric with the wafer at a selected distance from the wafer, whereby the application of microwave power to the wafer may be adjusted to compensate for edge effects. An associated method for heating a semiconductor wafer comprises the steps of: a. placing the wafer in a microwave applicator cavity; b. supporting the wafer on a fixture, the fixture comprising a dielectric supporting member in contact with the wafer and a metallic ring member disposed generally parallel to and concentric with the wafer at a selected distance from the wafer; and, c.

  • Patent number: 7051739
Abstract: A cigarette with burn rate modification is described. The cigarette has a partial double wrap design and incorporates an inner wrap material which extends partially around the interior portion of the outer wrapper of a cigarette. The inner wrap can be a single element or can be a plurality of strips which extend coaxially along the tobacco column and which affect the burn rate of the cigarette. The partial inner wrap material exhibits a low porosity and forms zones of high diffusion and low diffusion along the length of the tobacco rod. These zones may be singular or may be alternating and are coaxial. The low diffusion zones are aligned with the inner wrap material.

  • Patent number: 6732951
Abstract: A roof mounted evaporative cooling system utilizing a plurality of elongate deflectors that are supported and secured a short distance above the ridge of a gable roof by a plurality of spaced apart support bracket connectors. Each support bracket connector has a central longitudinal portion with a hose barb at each end, and a vertical portion in which a spray nozzle is mounted. The support bracket connectors are joined together by a plurality of sections of flexible tubing having opposed ends engaged on the hose barb of the connectors and secured by hose clamps. Water is supplied to the connectors and adjoined sections of flexible tubing by conduit connected through a battery operated timer to an outdoor water faucet or to the cold water supply pipe in the attic of the building. In operation, the fine mist of water, under standard domestic water pressure impinges and spreads evenly along the underside of the deflectors and drips off of lateral side portions of the deflectors and runs onto the roof.
