  • Patent number: 10838473
Abstract: A method for protecting a computer system is performed by a smart connector is described. The smart connector tests an Internet connection provided by an Internet hub. The connector reboots the Internet hub if the testing detects a problem in the Internet connection. Then, the connector tests the Internet connection after rebooting the Internet hub. If the problem persists after rebooting the Internet hub, the connector sends a hub problem notification. The components of the smart connector are also described.

  • Patent number: 10749705
Abstract: A smarter plug for a home automation system includes a smarter plug sensor and a controller which stores logic for operating the smarter plug sensor. The smarter plug sensor includes three A-D op-amps respectively paired with three resistors having different values forming three different op-amp voltage meters. The three different op-amp voltage meters respectively report a first sensor-voltage slope with a higher sensitivity and a lower range, a second sensor-voltage slope with a lower sensitivity and a higher range and a third sensor-voltage slope with a range and a sensitivity intermediate between these ranges.

  • Patent number: 10268632
Abstract: Time based protection of data stored in a source volume of a computer system uses a directory structure to store backups from a storage system. A first backup from a storage system is received. The first backup contains an image of the source volume for a first time. A first time stamp representing the first time is associated with the first backup. The first backup is stored as a first directory indexed by the first time stamp in a top backup directory. A second backup is received from the storage system. The second backup contains an image of the source volume for a second time. A second time stamp representing the second time is associated with the second backup. The second backup is stored as a second directory indexed by the second time stamp in the top backup directory. The first and second directories are linked to a section of the top backup directory at a root of the top directory.

  • Patent number: 10181959
Abstract: A set of assumptions about scheduled settings in a home automation system which control devices in a home is provided. An input from a sensor coupled to the home automation system is received. The input indicates that activity has occurred in the home. Suggestions in the user interface are presented for changing a first assumption of the set of assumptions based on the input. The first assumption is for controlling a device separate from the sensor which produced the input.

  • Patent number: 10157183
Abstract: Time based protection of data stored in a source volume of a computer system is accomplished by performing a set of backups for the computer system, each backup a full image for a respective backup time. The set of backups is stored in a filesystem format. Each respective backup is stored as a directory in a directory structure. A respective timestamp is associated with each backup. The respective timestamp is representative of the respective backup time. The set of backup directories is indexed according to the associated timestamps.

  • Patent number: 9794389
Abstract: A hands-free Bluetooth system is described. The Bluetooth system comprises a base unit and a controller unit. The controller includes a built-in speaker, a built-in microphone and a control button configured to receive an action from a user and transmit a signal which corresponds to the action to the base unit. The controller unit automatically pairs through Bluetooth to the base unit and directs audio signals received from the base unit to the built-in speaker. The base unit pairs through Bluetooth to a smartphone. The base connects to an audio system through an audio connection. Upon receiving a signal for an incoming call through the smartphone, the base unit tests whether it is connected to the speaker of the audio system. If it is connected, the base unit directs the incoming call to the audio system. However, if it is not connected, the base unit directs the incoming call to the controller.
