  • Patent number: 7013316
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently synchronizing multiple databases stored on multiple computing devices. The method and system provides a duplicated database configuration where a database can either be stored only on a plurality of client computers, or on at least client computer and a server computer. This duplicated database configuration allows users to access a database from a plurality of client computers that are communicatively connected to a server computer. In one embodiment, the method and system synchronizes the databases of a client computer to the database of a server computer by downloading selected database objects from the server computer database, thereby minimizing the amount of data transferred between the client and server computers. The synchronization routine selectively downloads database objects based on a comparison of server access time indicators stored in the databases.

  • Patent number: 6325844
Abstract: A filter and muffler device for use with a vacuum mechanism having an outlet port is particularly designed to muffle sound exiting from the outlet port as well as to filter the outlet exhaust. The device includes a filter element which is generally rectangular in plan view and which has opposed lateral sides and opposed longitudinal sides. The filter element has a direction of filtration from a planar bottom to a planar top thereof, and is preferably a HEPA type filter. The device also includes a housing in which the filter element is located. This housing includes a generally flat upper wall parallel to and spaced from the top of the filter element; respective lateral and longitudinal side walls connected to the upper wall and extending generally parallel to the respective lateral and longitudinal sides of the filter element; and a lower wall spaced from the upper wall, extending between the lateral and longitudinal side walls of the housing, and located opposite the bottom of the filter element.

  • Patent number: 6292794
Abstract: A technique for incorporating text retrieval into the logic associated with current stem search technologies. The software stem search system positions a highlight bar even if the entered text is not the first word of the highlighted item. The highlight bar is positioned without reducing the numbers of records in the stem search display. The invention utilizes a stem search engine and a database search engine to search a list of entries for a match to a stem inputted by the user for a desired entry. Since the stem search engine can only find a stem starting with the left-most characters, the database search engine is used to locate the stem in other portions of the entries in the list. The match found by the database search engine is then translated to the list of entries by highlighting the desired entry in the list such that the position of the desired entry in the list of entries may be determined from the display by the user.

  • Patent number: 6022426
Abstract: A controlled oxygen content copper clad laminate product and process. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a laminate having a first layer of oxygen-free copper joined to a second layer of oxygen-rich copper by the steps of (i) cladding the first layer to the second layer at a relatively low speed to minimize rolling friction, (ii) finish rolling the laminate to substantially increase its thickness tolerance, (iii) slitting the laminate to increase its width tolerance, (iv) profiling a groove at a selected location in the laminate, (v) finish slitting a plurality of ribbons from the laminate, (vi) tension leveling the laminate to straighten and flatten its shape, (vii) stamping the laminate into sections each of a selected configuration, (viii) cleaning laminate surfaces, and (ix) direct bonding the laminate to a substrate material such that the first layer is annealed to the second.

  • Patent number: 5892907
Abstract: Under VTAM, or similar-type data communications system, co-executing "partner" processes typically exchange data via SEND and RECEIVE requests that are processed by VTAM. A method in accordance with the invention provides a way for optimizing this data exchange process. The optimized method bypasses VTAM to provide significant savings of system resources and improved execution speed over that required for VTAM to process the same SEND and RECEIVE requests.

  • Patent number: 5777259
Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly, having a first oxygen-rich copper base layer joined to a first layer of beryllium oxide, a first oxygen-rich copper layer joined to the first beryllium oxide layer, a second beryllium oxide layer joined to the first oxygen-rich copper layer, a second base layer of oxygen-rich copper joined to the second oxygen-rich copper layer, a second oxygen-rich copper base layer joined to the second beryllium oxide layer, and a heat exchanger structure direct bonded to the second base layer. The structure has a plurality of oxygen-rich copper fins stacked upon one another, each fin having a channel at a selected location therein. The material to material interfaces between adjacent stacked fins are joined to one another by direct bonding so as to form a solidified block structure. Each of the channels form a cooling chamber for receiving a fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 5616157
Abstract: A filter indicator system for indicating when air flow through a filter is restricted includes an indicator mounted in a filter assembly downstream of the filter. The indicator includes a housing having a central space, a side wall, an end wall, an end inlet in the end wall, and a side outlet. A pop-up member is located in the central space and includes a signal portion which extends adjacent the end inlet. A moving device is then used for moving the pop-up member between a non-signalling position where the signal member does not extend noticeably through the end inlet and a signalling position where the signal portion extends noticeably through the end inlet.
