Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of a monohydroxyindole or dihydroxyindole compound by a single step of placing in contact, in a solvent medium, at least one hydrolase with at least one indole compound bearing one or two radicals connected by an ester function to the benzene ring.

Abstract: The invention relates to a composition, which may be cosmetic or dermatological, Containing at least one dihydroxyacetone precursor. The invention also relates to a composition, which may be cosmetic or dermatological, containing at least one dihydroxyacetone precursor and a compound capable of converting this precursor into dihydroxyacetone. Finally, the invention relates to such a composition packaged in a specific manner and to the use of the composition for artificial tanning of the skin.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use, as coupler in a dyeing composition, of a hydroxybenzofuran of formula (I): ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which are identical or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl radical. When they denote an alkyl radical, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 can occupy any position on the benzofuran ring except the positions 2 and 3 at the same time. The OH group may occupy one of the positions 4, 5, 6 or 7, in combination with one or more para type or ortho type oxidation dye precursors or mixtures thereof, for dyeing keratinous fibers and in particular human hair. The dyeing composition according to the invention makes it possible to confer on the keratinous fibers a color which is fast to light, washes, adverse weather conditions and perspiration.

Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote, independently of one another, a hydrogen atom or alternatively a carbamoyl group of formula: ##STR2## with R'.sub.3 denoting hydrogen or R.sub.3 ; an alkoxycarbonyl group of formula: ##STR3## or an acyl group of formula: ##STR4## in which formulae R.sub.3 denotes an alkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl radical; R.sub.3 can also denote an aryl or aralkyl radical; andR denotes a linear or braanched C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl radical substituted with one or more halogen atoms, and to their use for the treatment and prevention of hair loss and for stimulating its regrowth.
